  • Patent number: 8260259
Abstract: Methods and devices for instructing a subscriber identity module in a cellular communications network to process non-standard authentication information in a standard manner are disclosed. One embodiment of a method comprises receiving a first message authentication code (MAC) and an authentication management field (AMF) at a subscriber identity module as part of an authentication protocol, calculating a second MAC and determining whether the second MAC is equivalent to the first MAC. If the first and second MAC are not equivalent, the SIM calculates a third MAC and determines whether the first MAC is equivalent to the third MAC, and if so, the subscriber identity module processes the AMF in a predefined or standard manner.

  • Patent number: 7333838
Abstract: Techniques are provided for synchronizing a wakeup schedule for a first module and a wakeup schedule for a CDMA module in a wireless mobile unit operable in a synchronous communication system. In one embodiment, a next CDMA wakeup time is determined. A new wakeup time for the first module can then be synchronized to a next CDMA wakeup time when a next CDMA wakeup time is earlier than a next wakeup time for the first module.

  • Patent number: 7292552
Abstract: Method and apparatus for reducing interference in a wireless communication system when the source of interference is a deterministic component of the system. In one embodiment, the receiver weights the transmitters according to when the source of interference is transmitted. Further, the transmitter may employ power boosting to overcome the source of interference. In one embodiment, a W-CDMA system transmits a sync channel concurrently with physical channels, wherein the sync channel is not orthogonal to the physical channels. The receiver may cancel the sync channel when receiving control or data information. Similarly, the receiver may weight the transmissions from multiple transmitters.

  • Patent number: 7292611
Abstract: A demultiplexer for channel interleaving in communications systems with multiple carriers and/or transmitter diversity includes a distribution module that distributes data bits in succession to successive transmitter antennas, and a switching module coupled to the distribution module. The distribution module routes one data bit to each antenna such that no data bit is routed to the same antenna as the previous data bit. The switching module controls the distribution module to skip an antenna in the routing process once each time a predefined number of data bits have been routed. Alternatively, the switching module may control the distribution module to repeat an antenna in the routing process once each time a predefined number of data bits have been routed. The transmitter antennas may, in the alternative, be different carrier frequency bands.
