Abstract: A method and system for scanning objects using a scan engine having two modes are described. Under a first mode, the scan engine generates modulated pulses for determining the existence of objects containing symbols such as barcode and a scanning mirror is kept stationary. When it is determined that a triggering event should occur or the symbols exit, the scan engine is switched to a second mode in which light is continuously generated by a light source and used with the scanning mirror oscillating for standard scanning.
Abstract: A method for processing a digital signal obtained in a barcode reading operation comprises a step of applying a wavelet transformation to the digital signal. The noise threshold at each level of the wavelet transformation is determined from a total transfer function in the analogue processing stage, and the coefficients are set to be zero if less than the noise threshold.
Abstract: A method is disclosed for checking model planes entering into a dive, as well as an anti-dive method and apparatus. The method of checking planes includes installation of a first optical sensor in the upper part of the plane, with installation angle upwardly intersecting with the front of the plane at ? degrees, that checks light intensity and outputs a first checked optical signal; installation of a second optical sensor in the bottom part of the plane, with its installation angle downwardly intersecting with the back of the plane at ? degrees, which checks light intensity and outputs a second checked optical signal. A comparison is made between the first and second checked optical signals, and when the difference in light intensity is smaller than a threshold, a warning signal is sent out indicating that the plane has entered into a dive.
Abstract: A self-cooled rotor for an electrical machine being internally provided with a cooling channel to carrying cooling fluid. The machine includes a further channel for carrying cooling fluid in proximity to a magnetic field generating means for cooling it, the two passages being connected to each other within the machine.
Abstract: Provided is a film package assembly to be used within a camera such that conventional winding and rewinding components are eliminated. Provided is a film package assembly which includes a new light-tight film canister device, a roll of film and a film take-up cartridge. The film package assembly being designed so as to be loadable within a camera in non-darkroom or lighted conditions.
Abstract: A system and method of extracting data from a barcode or similar symbol in relatively large ambient light is disclosed. The system uses a slice signal that follows the upper part of a negative offset signal, or the lower part of a positive offset signal, depending upon the value of the input signal. The system may be implemented in digital or analog hardware.

Abstract: In some embodiments, the present invention provides a distributed monitoring, evaluation and routing (“DiMER”) system capable of active management of data network-based telephony. Such a system, and data network-based telephony incorporating the same, advantageously routes calls to meet call quality standards, connection speed and/or cost goals, among other targets. To meet such quality standards, the system incorporates preferences with periodically obtained call-related data and analysis, and revises call routing, as appropriate, by shifting or reallocating call traffic between available terminating gateways (based on their performance and caller preferences).
Abstract: A pump assembly 1, 33, 200 adapted for continuous flow pumping of blood. In a particular form the pump 1, 200 is a centrifugal pump wherein the impeller 100, 204 is entirely sealed within the pump housing 2, 201 and is exclusively hydrodynamically suspended therein as the impeller rotates within the fluid 105 urged by electromagnetic means external to the pump cavity 106, 203. Hydrodynamic suspension is assisted by the impeller 100, 204 having deformities therein such as blades 8 with surfaces tapered from the leading edges 102, 223 to the trailing edges 103, 224 of bottom and top edges 221, 222 thereof.

Abstract: A process for preparation of protriptyline hydrochloride from 5-dihydrobenzocycloheptatriene of formula (1) by coupling with chloropropyl alcohol in the presence of excess n-butyl Lithium in tetrahydrofuran under inert atmosphere, followed by preparation of mesylate derivative of formula (3) and finally the nucleophilic displacement of the mesylate group by reacting methylamine solution in methanol to give protriptyline free base of the formula (4). Also the present process reveals the hydrochloride salt formation and purification of the same to give pure pharmaceutical grade protriptyline hydrochloride with impurities less than 0.1% w/w.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for enabling a digital circuit by biasing at least one switch transistor ON such that a voltage potential of a virtual ground node is substantially equal to a voltage potential of a ground node for a power supply to the digital circuit, wherein the digital circuit is implemented using a plurality of transistors in a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) arrangement and at least some of the transistors are referenced to the virtual ground node; and disabling the digital circuit by biasing a gate terminal of the switch transistor below the voltage potential of the ground node.

Abstract: The method of isolating faults internal to, for example, from tonic integrated circuits by diverting a portion of certain input and output signals to integrated photo detectors. By analyzing the admitted optical signal in each of plural photo detectors, falls within the circuit can be isolated.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for automatically mixing a plurality of audio channels by adjusting respective gains of the audio channels using a control signal based on an aggregate of input levels of respective audio signals of the audio channels; and reducing the gain of a given one of the audio channels when an input level of the audio signal of that audio channel exceeds a threshold, irrespective of whether the control signal would permit the gain to rise higher.
Abstract: An oscillatory measurement system is disclosed that includes a visual recorder for detecting irregularities such as bubbles in a fluid to be measured. Techniques are provided for scanning the recorder across the oscillatory tube.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for controlling an SRAM memory, the SRAM memory including a plurality of memory cells arranged in an array of rows (word lines) and columns (bit lines), including: mirroring logic values of at least one of the bit lines to a global bit line; driving the global bit line to a pre-charge logic value in response to a clock signal that cycles at least one time during successive read and write operations to the memory cell; maintaining the global bit line at the pre-charge logic value during a write operation in which a logic value is written to the bit line that is opposite to the pre-charge logic value.
Abstract: An improved oscillation scan mirror assembly comprises a shaft, a holder having a bearing with a bearing surface supporting the holder on the shaft, a scan mirror secured to the holder. The holder and therefore the mirror are oscillatable around the shaft under an oscillating driving force, and bearing and the shaft is prevented from being tilt from each other. Preferably, a lateral retaining force is provided to constantly keep the bearing and the shaft in an aligned contact with each other. Since the relative tilting between bearing and the shaft is prevented, the vertical wobble or vibration of bearing, and therefore of the holder and the mirror, relative to the shaft is therefore suppressed.
