Abstract: A hydraulic engine mount comprising two fluid-filled chambers normally communicating with each other to affect a controlled throttled exchange of fluid between them sufficient to absorb relative movements of high frequency low amplitude between an engine and a chassis. Relative movements of high amplitude and low frequency may be absorbed by rendering the mount soft by opening a bypass to provide for a substantially unimpeded flow of fluid between the chambers. Preferably, the bypass is provided with valve means controlled by sensors reacting to parameters representing engine performance or the like.

Abstract: Apparatus for peeling positive print sheets from disposable components of peel-apart diffusion transfer film unit assemblies which comprises an open bottom chassis capable of being positioned over a receptacle and supporting a rotatable drum for carrying a processed film unit assembly into operative relationship with peeling blade assemblies to remove the print and release the remaining components of the film assembly for disposal through the open bottom of the chassis. The peeling components engage only marginal portions of the print and involve a combination of a movable peeling blade to engage the leading marginal edge of the print and a pair of fixed peeling blades which engage the side margins of the print and retain the print for manual removal from the apparatus.
Abstract: A novel latching mechanism for the film loading door of photographic apparatus linked to switch means for connecting a battery to a control circuit when the door is fully closed and for disconnecting the battery at all other times, arresting means being provided for preventing the link from closing the switch and for aligning one latch member on the camera with another latch member on the door.

Abstract: A novel spring-loaded damping unit having a piston mounted for sliding movement within an enclosed cylindrical housing, the piston being provided with a throttle for a controlled exchange of pressure between chambers on opposite sides of the piston wherein the throttle comprises one or more steel washers biased against seats engaging outer and inner peripheral positions on opposite surfaces of the washer. In the case of more than one washer a resilient layer may be provided between them.
Abstract: An automotive chassis made from extruded light metal rods held together by connecting members also made from light metal. In a preferred embodiment the rods are tubular. Rods and connecting members are provided with complementary recesses or protrusions which permit their fitting together by axial or radial movement for initial provisional assembly without requiring flexing of the assembly during the insertion of the last members completing the assembly.

Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus for automatically moving the tongue of a seat belt into a position in which it may conveniently be grasped by an operator for insertion into a buckle. The apparatus comprises an inflatable bellows engageable with the tongue and extensible into the position by the application of pressure. The bellows may be retracted by vacuum pressure or by integral resilient means in response to the tongue having been inserted into the buckle.

Abstract: A method of and system for automatically operating an automotive vehicle in such a manner that a desired distance may be driven with a given quantity of fuel. The system is such that after a rate of fuel consumption has been determined on the basis of the fuel available and the distance to be driven, for instance, a control monitors and adjusts the output of the engine of the vehicle appropriately. Manual operation of the vehicle in this manner is made possible by actuating perceptible warning signals whenever the vehicle is operated in a manner deviating from the desired performance.

Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for activating an electromagnetic positioning means or actuator of the kind sometimes known as an electrical cam with relatively low currents, by alternately energizing, or energizing with currents of opposite polarity, two electromagnets to move an armature positioned therebetween between two terminal positions. The device is activated from an inactive or passive to an active state by energizing currents having at least initially a frequency greater than the resonant frequency of the positioning means. With increasing oscillations of the armature the frequency of the energizing current is reduced to zero as the device reaches its fully activated state, i.e. when the armature has oscillated in a step-like manner to one of its terminal positions. The device may be have utility for driving gas exchange valves of internal combustion engines.
Abstract: The invention relates to a coupling means between an output control member of an internal combustion engine, in particular for automotive vehicles, and an actuator member, which coupling means in the range of small actuations of the actuator member does not open the output control member at all or only slightly, and only at larger actuations does it open the output control member in a noticeable fashion and thereafter moves it into a full-load position. Such a coupling means makes possible an enlarged operative range for a control device which controls the output control member in dependency of the position of the actuator member and at least one operating parameter of the internal combustion engine in a range lying between the full-load position and the minimum opening position determined by the given position of the actuator member.
