  • Patent number: 6834476
Abstract: The present invention heat-seals a cover film onto a tray accommodating an item to be packaged, without creating wrinkles in the film. In the present invention, respective touch bars provided at equidistant intervals on chains respectively and continuously move trays accommodating items to be packaged, and a frame to which sealers of the same outline as the trays are fixed moves back and forth at the same speed, in the same direction as the trays. A crank below the frame moving back and forth raises a sealing base frame upwards when the frame advances, the trays are pushed against the sealers positioned above the same, via the moving film, and the film is welded to the open edge of the trays. The movement of the sealing base frame is a box motion, and the efficiency of the sealing operation is increased.

  • Patent number: 6824158
Abstract: This invention concerns a basic arrangement of a ski binding having a front part or a toe end and a rear part or a heel end for securing the ski boot, and also having a front supporting part, longitudinally displaceable on a first base part fixed on the ski, for supporting the front boot holding part, and a rear supporting part, longitudinally displaceable on another base part fixed on the ski, for supporting the rear boot holding part. The invention further includes an adjusting device designed as a rack-and-pinion gear for simultaneous adjustment of both supporting parts; this adjusting device has two toothed racks, each connected to a supporting part, and a manually operable, lockable gearwheel which meshes with both toothed racks between the two supporting parts. In one embodiment, the gearwheel is arranged on a middle base part in an essentially stationary mount on the ski, and is separate from the front and rear base parts, and is held indirectly on the ski by the front and rear base parts.

  • Patent number: 6817306
Abstract: Provided is a thread cutting device for sewing machine used when the operator performs a sewing operation while inserting an elastic cord in a circular part of a sewing object such as a waist part of underwear. When the sewing operation is completed, a moveable thread guard member and a thread nip member nip a cut end of a looper thread cut by an existing thread cutting device. With a fabric feed immediately after the next following sewing operation is started in this state, part of a looper thread hanging between a nip position of the cut end and the fabric is cut under sliding contact at a location extremely adjacent to the starting position of seams by using a cutting edge, facing to a needler location, of a blade fixed to a throat plate. This permits a remarkable reduction in the length of the looper thread end remaining at the starting position of the seams.

  • Patent number: 6814976
Abstract: A transdermal therapeutic system (TTS), in particular a patch, is described, comprising: a detectable protective layer a pressure-sensitive adhesive reservoir layer and a backing layer with or without a coating of pressure-sensitive adhesive and featuring a unintentionally, preferably longitudinally, elastic material having an elasticity of at least 20%. The TTS is particularly suitable for use as a multi-day plaster, for the treatment, for instance, of pain or of drug dependency.

  • Patent number: 6816307
Abstract: A rear projection screen does not block the image light and provides a perfect complete image. The screen includes a Fresnel lens, and a cylindrical lens array consisting of a plurality of cylindrical lens elements. These elements are independent from each other and in parallel, and arranged closely between adjacent cylindrical lens element, so that there are no luminous flux loss therebetween. A strengthening area, which is provided with a rigid reinforced member connecting with cylindrical lens elements on two sides thereof, is formed on the are a being from their contact portion to the image-light exist-side surface between adjacent cylindrical lens elements. An ambient light absorbing portion is formed at the image-light exit side in the strengthening area.

  • Patent number: 6814335
Abstract: A durable holder assembly having improved mechanical and aesthetic qualities to hold heavy objects. The securing member, such as a suction cup, for the assembly is formed via injection molding and serves to secure the assembly to a vertical surface. A holding member, such as a hook, is integrally formed within the securing member and extends downwardly from a head portion of the securing member for holding other objects.

  • Patent number: 6811913
Abstract: A reversible electrochemical system adapted to operate between a fuel cell mode, an electrolysis mode, and an electrolysis and fuel cell alternating mode(energy storage mode), operating on a fuel gas mixture and an oxygen-containing gas mixture. In the fuel cell mode, a current of electrons is delivered to an oxygen electrode where their charge is transferred to a plurality of oxygen ions which are passed through an electrolyte to a fuel electrode where the charge is transferred back to the electrode. In the electrolysis mode, a current of electrons is sent to a fuel electrode where the charge is transferred to a plurality of oxygen ions formed by the decomposition of steam. The oxygen ions pass through an electrolyte to an oxygen electrode where the charge is transferred back to the electrons.

  • Patent number: 6810559
Abstract: An agitator assembly for a vacuum cleaner comprises a dowel assembly with recesses at its opposite ends defined by outwardly inclined walls. Each recess has inwardly facing radial vanes, and a shaft end for holding the inner ring of a bearing assembly. End caps extend over the ends of the dowel, and each has a collar for holding the outer ring of the bearing assembly and an outer longitudinal wall for providing a dust shield. The rotating vanes create an air barrier to preclude dust from moving towards each bearing assembly, and the inclined walls of each recess direct dust tossed outwardly by centrifugal force out of the agitator assembly. The end caps and the walls defining each recess further define a labyrinth seal to keep dust from traveling to each bearing assembly.
