Patent number: 6854465Abstract: A face mask support for CPAP comprising a hemispheric cap with biasing means support at the medial line of the head. The circumferential edge of the cap extends from the high forehead to below the inion protrusion at the nape of the neck. A biasing means which is preferably of a length of spring steel is formed so as to extend from the biasing means support to form a loop around a face mask. The biasing means may be adjusted to accommodate facial configurations and to vary the pressure with which the face mask is apposed to the face. In an alternative embodiment, the support is open and is comprised of a circumferential band extending from the middle of the forehead to below the inion protrusion and a medial band extending along the medial line of the head and connecting to the circumferential band at the middle of the forehead and below the inion protrusion.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2003Date of Patent: February 15, 2005Assignee: AEIOMed, Inc.Inventors: Steven S. Patent number: 6790603Abstract: Blood platelets stored in an isotonic, balanced salt solution under standard storage conditions retain function after ten days of storage when micormolar or nanomolar amounts of pentose are added to the solution. The preferred pentoses are D-Ribose, xylulose-5-phosphate and the pentose-related alcohol xylitol.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2000Date of Patent: September 14, 2004Assignee: Bioenergy, Inc.Inventors: Daniel G. Patent number: 6692473Abstract: The invention is a dual lumen, adjustable cannula assembly which comprises an inner cannula which is moveable within an outer cannula. Each cannula has openings for fluid passage. The assembly may be placed at any region within a body cavity such as the peritoneal cavity, the vena cava, veins or arteries. The inner cannula can be advanced beyond the position of the cannula assembly so as to communicate with a region of the cavity different from that with which the outer cavity communicates.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 2001Date of Patent: February 17, 2004Inventors: John A. St. Cyr, J. Michael Holton, Theodore C. Kelly, Linda M. Shecterle

Patent number: 6689262Abstract: An oxygen emitter which is an electrolytic cell is disclosed. When the anode and cathode are separated by a critical distance, very small microbubbles and nanobubbles of oxygen are generated. The hydrogen forms bubbles at the cathode, which bubbles rise to the surface. The very small oxygen bubbles remain in suspension, forming a solution supersaturated in oxygen. The electrodes may be a metal or oxide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of ruthenium, iridium, nickel, iron, rhodium, rhenium, cobalt, tungsten, manganese, tantalum, molybdenum, lead, titanium, platinum, palladium and osmium or oxides thereof. The electrodes may be formed into open grids or may be closed surfaces. The most preferred cathode is a stainless steel mesh. The most preferred mesh is a {fraction (1/16)} inch grid. The most preferred anode is platinum and iridium oxide on a support. A preferred support is titanium. Models suitable for different uses are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2003Date of Patent: February 10, 2004Assignee: Aqua Innovation, Inc.Inventor: James Andrew Senkiw

Patent number: 6663859Abstract: D-Ribose and methods for using D-Ribose are provided for enhancing the immune response in mammals. Those with a less than optimal immune response will benefit from oral or parenteral administration of D-Ribose. Methods are also provided for the enhancement of the immune response in isolated leukocytes. Leukocytes are cultured ex vivo in the presence of D-Ribose and transfused into a patient in need of leukocyte augmentation.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 2001Date of Patent: December 16, 2003Assignees: Bioenergy, Inc., University of FloridaInventors: Susan S.
