  • Patent number: 8212670
Abstract: A compact wireless security sensor having a magnetically operated plunger switch. The compact nature of the sensor of the present invention makes it ideal for being substantially concealing into a door frame or window as part of a wireless security system. The sensor unit includes a housing having an inner end, an outer end, and a magnet positioned within a moveable plunger, and an antenna, preferably a flexible wire antenna. The housing further contains a sensor switch, a microprocessor with a PCB, a wireless transmitter, such as an RF transmitter, and a power source, such as a small coin cell battery, for emitting signals to a master station or controller when the plunger switch is depressed and activates the internal sensor switch.

  • Patent number: 7108247
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of operation of and apparatus for a lifting and/or conveying device (1), such as a crane, that comprises at least one cable (2) capable of being rolled (wound) onto or off a dispenser roll (3). To lengthen the service lifetime of the cable, a separation medium (4) is introduced between individual windings (5, 5?, 5?) of the cable (2) on the dispenser roll (3) during operation. The separation medium prevents at least partial contact, and, preferably all contact, between the individual windings thereby reducing contact wear. According to one aspect of the invention, the separation medium is a plastic web that may be wound onto the individual windings via a separation media roll (6).

  • Patent number: 7081816
Abstract: A compact size wireless sensor for sensing a change of state that includes a sensor switch, a microprocessor, a wireless transmitter, a timer (e.g., a low power clock circuit), an antenna, and a coin cell battery power source. The coin cell battery, which is positioned in a stacking arrangement with the microprocessor, switch, and transmitter, allows the sensor to be of a significantly reduced size. Moreover, to provide long life despite a small battery, the microprocessor is run in a standby mode in which the microprocessor draws little power unless it actually samples the state of the sensor switch during select intervals. Various electronic components individually, or in combination, assist in the sampling (monitoring mode) in such a way as to reduce current consumption from the power source. The compact size makes the sensor ideally applicable for wireless intrusion systems embedded within hollow frames of windows and doors.

  • Patent number: 7077372
Abstract: A locking assembly having a substantially joined bracket assembly with a front and back plate defining an opening therebetween with a top slot and a side slot. At least the back plate is directly or indirectly fixedly attached to a solid surface. Positioned within side slot is a pivoting release lever having an upper leg and lower leg movable about a pivot. The pivot is fixedly attached to the front and back plates such that the upper and lower legs are free to move within the opening between the front and back plates within a defined boundary about the pivot. The locking assembly further includes a collar assembly having a collar assembly plate of a size and shape to fit edgewise and be guided into the opening between the front and bottom plates via the top slot. A collar extending from the front surface of the collar assembly plate is attached to a device.

  • Patent number: 6867369
Abstract: A temporary protective cover/guide for a universal electrical/communications box, said protective cover having a perimeter side wall, a recessed planar base, and a flange extending outwardly from the side wall such that it is preferably substantially planar and parallel to the planar base. The perimeter side wall and base and flange are of a size and shape to friction fit the recessed base within the box once electrical conductors are pulled into the box. The flange covers nearly all of the upper edge(s) of the box. The cover/guide can be readily attached or removed and provides protection against electrical shocks. In preferred form, at least the base of the cover/guide is transparent so that an inspector can readily view the electrical conductors without having to remove the cover.

  • Patent number: 6820345
Abstract: A combination carpenter square and bevel/sliding bevel having three triangle-shaped adjoining legs, with an articulating joint between the hypotenuse leg and each adjoining leg. The other two non-hypotenuse legs are capable of forming a substantially 90 degree angle between the two non-hypotenuse legs to function as a carpenter's square. At least one of the articulating joints at the hypotenuse leg is capable of tightening and loosening. The hypotenuse leg also consists of a slot positioned longitudinally of the hypotenuse leg. The tightening and loosening articulated joint joins the hypotenuse leg with an adjacent non-hypotenuse leg through the slot, which allows the adjacent non-hypotenuse leg movement about the joint relative to the hypotenuse leg to function as a bevel. The articulated joints allow the combination square and bevel/sliding bevel to be folded into a compact shape.

  • Patent number: 6737969
Abstract: An wireless security sensor system includes a window frame defining a window opening, a window sash movable relative to the window frame between open and closed positions; and a sensor unit embedded in the window frame. The sensor unit includes a housing having an inner end within the window frame, an outer end at a surface of the window frame and a flexible ¼ wave wire antenna extending e.g. longitudinally of the window frame from the housing. The housing contains a sensor switch, a microprocessor, and RF transmitter and a battery for emitting signals to a master station or controller and the wireless security sensor system includes a magnet mounted in the window sash for actuating the sensor switch. The window frame is made from a plastics material extrusion having a hollow interior and the housing has a peripheral flange at the outer end thereof which is seated on the surface of the window frame.

  • Patent number: 6662460
Abstract: A combination carpenter square and bevel/sliding bevel having three triangle-shaped adjoining legs, with an articulating joint between the hypotenuse leg and each adjoining leg. The other two non-hypotenuse legs are capable of being latched or detached by a latching joint that, when latched, forms a substantially 90 degree angle between the two non-hypotenuse legs to function as a carpenter's square. One of the articulating joints at the hypotenuse leg is capable of tightening and loosening. The hypotenuse leg also consists of a slot positioned longitudinally of the hypotenuse leg. The tightening and loosening articulated joint joins the hypotenuse leg with an adjacent leg through the slot, which allows the adjacent leg movement about the joint relative to the hypotenuse leg to function as a bevel. The articulated joints and the detaching function of the latching joint allows the combination square and bevel/sliding bevel to be folded into a compact shape.

  • Patent number: 6565404
Abstract: A flying toy having a resilient, non-circular frame substantially radiated about an imaginary center axis. The fame includes a plurality of elongated side members substantially interconnected by a plurality of radially-extending feet members, where a higher concentration of the weight of the frame resides at its periphery. Each side member is arced inward toward the imaginary center axis. The frame defines a central opening of which the imaginary axis is axially aligned. A flexible membrane is attached to least a portion of the side members and substantially covers the central opening. In one embodiment, a center portion of each side member is positioned above its adjacent feet members when the toy is in an at rest position to form a structure that is substantially concave in shape in the at rest state. During spinning flight, the higher concentration of weight at the periphery induces centrifugal force upon the toy causing the side members to partially flatten out.
