Abstract: A digital music server, a music digitizing station, and at least one listening stations connected in a network. Each listening station includes an earphone, keyboard, display, and bar code reader. The bar code on a compact disk (CD) is scanned using the bar code reader at a listening station, and stored containing tracks from the selected CD are quickly accessed. By using the display and keyboard, the desired track is selected, and the sound volume is controlled. As the selected song file is downloaded from the server to the listening station. The listening station plays the selected track by means of an audio adapter through the earphone of said listening station.
