  • Patent number: 4773991
Abstract: A water purification system includes a water purifying module having an inlet, a first outlet for purified product water and a second outlet for untreated concentrate water. An inlet line is connected to the module inlet, a purified water line is connected to the first outlet, and a drain line is connected to the second outlet. A first return line including a check valve is connected between the purified water line and the inlet line, and a second return line is connected between the drain line and the inlet line. Water to be treated is supplied to the inlet line by a pressure regulator, which provides regulated water pressures in the inlet line, the first and second return lines, and the purified water line.

  • Patent number: 4722850
Abstract: A disposable container is provided that has a semi-rigid generally concave body and a collapsible panel sealing an open mouth of the semi-rigid body. An access assembly is mounted to the outside surface of the semi-rigid body. Liquid sealed within the semi-rigid body by the collapsible panel is removed through the access assembly, during which removal the collapsible panel collapses to generally conform to the generally concaved shape of the body. Space efficient assemblies of these disposable containers are also provided.

  • Patent number: 4718467
Abstract: A novel technique of connecting two or more pumping modules under a laminar flow hood is described. The technique includes the use of a novel manifold which is specifically designed to enhance laminar air flow across the outlet port of the manifold when connected to one of the pumping modules. The manifold includes a cylindrical housing having an axially extending outlet port, and two or more sets of radially extending inlet ports eminate from the cylindrical housing. The inlet ports of each set are closely spaced with respect to one another to minimize the length of the cylindrical housing. A common fluid channel extends substantially through the length of the cylindrical housing to connect each of the inlet ports to the single outlet port.

  • Patent number: 4712590
Abstract: A device for connecting two or more bulk compounding systems for mixing hyperalimentation solutions is described. The device allows electrical signals from each bulk compounding system to be connected to one another so that each bulk compounding system may act in concert with other bulk compounding systems to fill an individual receiving container with minimal modifications to the internal circuitry of an individual bulk compounding system.

  • Patent number: 4690758
Abstract: A mass transfer device (60) includes a hollow fiber bundle (10) comprising a generally cylindrical core (14) having opposed ends, a plurality of layers of hollow fiber (12) that have been wound around the core, and binding means (48a, 48b, 48c) such as double- sided pressure-sensitive tape that have been wound around the layers of hollow fiber in a plurality of longitudinally spaced locations along the core and intermediate the opposite ends of the core for providing longitudinally spaced support means for the hollow fiber bundle. The hollow fiber bundle is enclosed in a housing (62) having an inner wall (80) which defines a generally circular opening for receiving the hollow fiber bundle except that the inner wall adjacent a fluid outlet manifold (74) includes an expansion volume (82) for the hollow fibers that are adjacent that fluid outlet manifold.
