    Abstract: An illumination device for a display device has cold cathode tube lamps capable of being driven in parallel, a first holding member having holders equivalent in number to the number of the cold cathode tube lamps and each holding one end of each lamp, a second holding member having holders equivalent in number to the number of the cold cathode tube lamps and each holding the other end of each lamp and an electric power source device. Harness lines connected to one end of the electric power source device and the first holding member are interconnected at multiple points, and harness lines connected to the other end of the electric power source device and the second holding member are interconnected at multiple points. This reduces uneven brightness. The illumination device for a display device can be used as backlight for a liquid crystal TV.
