  • Patent number: 8341815
Abstract: A laminate is prepared in which adjacent internal electrodes are electrically insulated from each other at an end surface at which the internal electrodes are exposed, a space between the adjacent internal electrodes, which is measured in the thickness direction of insulating layers, is about 10 ?m or less when a withdrawn distance of the adjacent internal electrodes from the end surface is about 1 ?m or less, and is about 20 ?m or less when a protruding length of the adjacent internal electrodes from the end surface is at least about 0.1 ?m. In an electroplating step, electroplating deposits deposited on the ends of the adjacent internal electrodes are grown so as to be connected to each other.

  • Patent number: 8092085
Abstract: A thermistor includes a thermistor body and terminal electrodes disposed at both ends of the thermistor body. A first lead is longer than a second lead. The first and second leads include tips having inclined shapes that are cut such that metal lines are surface-exposed, respectively. The thermistor body is attached at a predetermined side position of the first lead such that the first lead and a side folding portion of the terminal electrode form a predetermined angle ?. The terminal electrode and the first lead are connected to each other through solder, and the second lead and the terminal electrode are connected to each other through solder. This can prevent the occurrence of damage even if an excessive thermal stress is applied. The temperature sensor with leads having stable electric connection with the temperature sensor that has satisfactory detection sensitivity and high reliability is achieved.

  • Patent number: 7882392
Abstract: An electronic device includes a power supply unit that generates plural output voltages from an input voltage and outputs the various output voltages from respective plural power supply channels, a voltage detecting unit that monitors voltages of two power supply channels among plural power supply channels which are different in decreases of the output voltage in the case that the input voltage is cut off, outputs a first detecting signal upon detecting a decrease in voltage of a first power supply channel having a fast decrease to a first threshold and outputs a second detecting signal upon detecting a decrease in voltage of a second power supply channel having a slow decrease to a second threshold, and a control unit that saves data upon receiving the first detecting signal and stops an operation of the electronic device upon receiving the second detecting signal.

  • Patent number: 7509716
Abstract: In a method for manufacturing a piezoelectric actuator, a ceramic sintered body is prepared and a size of the ceramic sintered body is adjusted in a thickness direction defined below by grinding piezoelectric ceramic layers, included in the ceramic sintered body, located outermost in the thickness direction. In the ceramic sintered body, internal electrodes are each disposed between piezoelectric ceramic layers. The thickness direction is defined as the direction along the thickness of the piezoelectric ceramic layer. Each of the inert sections are disposed on at least one side of the active section, for driving the piezoelectric actuator, in the thickness direction. Dummy internal electrodes are arranged in the inert sections such that each of the dummy internal electrodes are each located between ceramic layers. The thickness of the piezoelectric ceramic layers disposed between the dummy internal electrodes increases with distance from the active section.

  • Patent number: 7448785
Abstract: The invention relates to a surface illuminator and a liquid crystal display having the same and provides a surface illuminator capable of achieving high display quality by employing an array of discrete light sources and a liquid crystal display having the same. A reflective surface for reflecting light in a light guide region of a light guide extends from an end of a light entrance surface through which light enters the light guide region. An LED light source serving as an array of discrete light source is constituted by a red emission LED, a green emission LED, a blue emission LED, and another green emission LED provide alternately and discretely along the light entrance surface.

  • Patent number: 7339192
Abstract: An active-matrix substrate 30 includes multiple function lines 31, a structure for fixing up the arrangement of the function lines, a first conductive layer 43, a second conductive layer 42, multiple transistors 32 and multiple pixel electrodes 33. Each of the function lines 31 includes: a core 36, at least the surface of which has electrical conductivity; an insulating layer 37 that covers the surface of the core; and a semiconductor layer 38 that covers the insulating layer. Some portions of the first and second conductive layers 43 and 42 overlap with the respective semiconductor layers of the function lines but the others not. The transistors 32 are provided so as to have their channel defined as a region 44 in the semiconductor layer by the first and second conductive layers. The pixel electrodes 33 are electrically connected to the first conductive layer 43.

  • Patent number: 7160398
Abstract: A melt of an alloy, represented (Fe1-mTm)100-x-y-zQxRyMz, where T is Co and/or Ni, Q is B and/or C, R is at least one rare-earth element, M is selected from Al, Si, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Cu, Zn, Ga, Zr, Nb, Mo, Ag, Hf, Ta, W, Pt, Au and Pb; 10 at %?x?35 at %; 2 at %?y?10 at %; 0 at %?z?10 at %; and 0?m?0.5, is prepared. Next, the melt is brought into contact with, and rapidly cooled and solidified by, the surface of a rotating chill roller. The melt is teemed onto a guide member, of which the guide surface defines a tilt angle with a horizontal plane, runs down on the guide surface, and then is fed through at least one tubular hole onto a contact area on the surface of the chill roller.
