  • Patent number: 8284154
Abstract: In a discharge tube, a conductive ferrule is provided on an end portion of a glass tube. The ferrule includes a body that is to be mounted to the outer circumference of the glass tube and has a contact portion to be electrically conductively fixed to a relay connector (or a bearing device). Further included is a conductive portion that extends from the body so as to have elastic contact with an outer lead. The outer lead will not be under load due to the weight of the discharge tube, but the conductive portion solely has elastic contact therewith. Thus, stress concentration on the outer lead can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 8284010
Abstract: An inductor includes a coil electrode section in which a first spiral electrode and a second spiral electrode are wound in substantially the same direction, lie in substantially the same plane, and are connected to each other by a connection electrode. The coil electrode section is sandwiched by the first magnetic layer and the second magnetic layer from both directions substantially perpendicular to the plane. A first protrusion electrode and a second protrusion electrode at ends of the first spiral electrode and the second spiral electrode that are opposite to the connection electrode extend in a direction substantially perpendicular to the plane, have a length at which each of the protrusion electrodes protrudes from the first magnetic layer, and define opposite end electrodes of the inductor. Arranging this low-profile inductor on a mounting circuit board achieves a low-profile DC-DC converter including a two-layer structure.

  • Patent number: 8283836
Abstract: In a piezoelectric actuator driver circuit, a resistor provided to detect current is inserted in a current path for a piezoelectric actuator. A signal of a decreased voltage of the resistor is subjected to positive feedback to an amplifier circuit via a band-pass filter. An output signal of the amplifier circuit is subjected to negative feedback to the amplifier circuit via a band-elimination filter. The band-pass filter allows a signal of a fundamental resonant frequency of a piezoelectric device, which includes the piezoelectric actuator, to pass therethrough, and the band-elimination filter blocks the signal of the fundamental resonant frequency. Thus, a loop gain at a higher-order resonant frequency with respect to the fundamental resonant frequency becomes very low and a higher-order resonant mode can be effectively suppressed.
