Abstract: A filter mounting system of a filter assembly for a fryer apparatus is disclosed, the filter mounting system including a slip fitting slidably receivable in a slip fitting receiver of a tank outlet port. A grasping member is functionally attached to the mounting system for removal of the filter assembly without the necessity of cooling the cooking oil contained in the fryer.
Abstract: The present invention provides a process to remove the germ from the endosperm of a corn kernel. The apparatus of the present invention comprises frictional cylindrical rollers, each roller rotating about an axis, the axis of the rollers substantially parallel, and the direction of rotation being opposing. The roller bodies having a rubberized covering, rotate with differing surface velocities and are tensioned such as to impart low-impact friction forces to corn kernels drawn between the roller covers. The process of the present invention includes a tempering step comprising adding an amount of moisture to the corn by wetting and soaking the corn; a polishing step for removing bran layers from the corn; a second tempering step comprising adding an additional amount of moisture to the corn by wetting and soaking the corn; and a friction step to remove germ from the endosperm.

Abstract: This invention is an article of protective apparel having pliable, insulative panels integral to a sleeve or sleeves, with the protective panels so positioned to cover the postern of the forearm, elbow and segment of the upper arm vulnerable to conductive heat during welding operations or the like. As such the apparel provides protection from being in close proximity to heated surfaces, while providing improved movement and maintaining an appearance of a typical work shirt.
Abstract: A rotational viscometer includes a cylindrical bob attached to a bob axle, a concentric sleeve exterior of the bob, a motor for inducing rotation in the sleeve, a biasing spring attached to the bob axle for resisting axle rotation, and a measurement system comprising an electric field transmitter, an electric field receiver and a rotor extending intermediate the transmitter and receiver. The rotor is attached to the bob axle so that rotation of the bob axle and the rotor presents a measurable deviation of the electrical field received by the electrical field receiver. A processor calculates the angle of displacement of the bob from that sine and cosine of the received electrical field and transmits readable output in the form of a sample viscosity value to a display.
Abstract: An adjustable down-hole tool, for example a drill-string stabiliser (10), comprises a body (12) having a through bore (16). A mandrel (18) is rotationally fixed but axially movable in the body, the mandrel being movable by fluid pressure in the tool against the action of a first return spring (44) between a first, activated position and a second deactivated position. A sleeve (66) is between shoulders (68, 69) on the body and mandrel. Castellations (18a,b, 69a,b) are on the mandrel and facing edge or edges of the sleeve so that, when the castellations are in phase the mandrel is prevented from travelling from said first to second position and when they are out of phase they interdigitate and the mandrel is not prevented from travelling from said first to second position. A control piston (36) is slidable in the mandrel, being movable by fluid pressure in the tool against the action of a second return spring (50).

Abstract: A guard for preventing the vandalism of the vault and vault door of a pay telephone, comprising a plurality of rigid segments. Each rigid segment includes an attachment end and a free end, defining a perpendicular distance therebetween. Each of the rigid segments is attached at its attachment end to the lower housing of the pay telephone immediately adjacent and substantially surrounding the vault door. In the preferred embodiment, the plurality of rigid segments comprise one integral rigid member. The guard changes the leverage point of the pry bar of a vandal so as to prohibit such vandal from forceably removing the vault door. The leverage point is changed from proximate the vault door to the free end of a rigid segment or integral rigid member.
Abstract: A refrigerated intercooler for an air conditioning, refrigeration or similar cooling system. The intercooler provides a thermal interface between colder refrigerant gas leaving the air conditioning system's evaporator and the hotter refrigerant liquid leaving the system's condenser. The thermal interface occurs between the gas in the accumulator portion of the intercooler and the liquid in an interior container of the intercooler. In the preferred embodiment, the interior container is coiled tubing, to promote better heat exchange. The system's oil/refrigerant emulsion is metered and returned from the intercooler to the compressor through an oil return line that is external to the accumulator portion of the intercooler.
Abstract: A phosphorescent ring for providing a visual reference cue towards a doorknob or similar opening hardware. The ring may be attached around the doorknob with adhesive, or it may be hung on the doorknob. In the preferred embodiment, the ring is hung on the doorknob, allowing the ring to be used on a motel room door or other location where the room occupant is unfamiliar with the room layout and exit door location.
