Abstract: An improved process for the continuous preparation of polycaprolactam, in which .epsilon.-caprolactam is partially polymerized, with the addition of a water-containing agent and acetic acid or propionic acid as a chain regulator, at a nylon-forming temperature, in a mechanically mixed zone in a vertical tubular reactor through which the reaction mixture flows downwards, and is then polymerized further, in additional heat exchange zones, until the desired degree of polymerization is reached, and polycaprolactam is then discharged as a melt, wherein a gaseous mixture of caprolactam, water and acetic acid or propionic acid is removed at the top of the tubular reactor and is fed to the middle of a column, water is removed at the top of the column, the bottom of the column is maintained at from 125.degree. to 145.degree. C., and the mixture obtained at the bottom of the column, and comprising caprolactam, acetic acid or propionic acid and a small amount of water, is recycled to the top of the tubular reactor.

Abstract: Trifluoromethoxyphenyl-(di)-thiophosphoric acid esters of the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and X have the meanings given in the description, and their use in pest control.

Abstract: An electrophotographic recording medium which consists essentially of an electrically conductive base and a photosemiconductive double layer which comprises a first layer containing charge carrier-producing dyes, and a second layer containing one or more compounds which are charge carrier-transporting when exposed to light, wherein the charge carrier-producing dyes are those of the formula I ##STR1## or of the formula II ##STR2## where R.sup.1 is hydrogen, alkyl, aralkyl, alkyl or alkylaryl, and Z may be a a fused aromatic system, and the degree to which the aromatic skeleton is halogen-substituted is from 45 to 75% of the maximum possible, and a process for the production of this electrophotographic recording medium.

Abstract: A process, carried out without a diluent or in solution, in more than 2 reaction zones, for the continuous preparation of rubber-modified polymers of vinylaromatics, wherein a monomeric aromatic vinyl compound and an elastomeric polymer, in an amount of from 3 to 16% by weight based on the monomer, are polymerized, in the absence of a free radical initiator, but in the presence of a mercaptan as a chain transfer agent, at from 80.degree. to 180.degree. C. in a first reaction zone, with stirring, up to a maximum monomer conversion, U.sub.max, given by the equationU.sub.max =K-1where K is the amount of rubber in % by weight based on monomer, and, in a second reaction zone, polymerization is continued, with stirring, to a conversion of up to about 50% by weight, after which a chain transfer agent is introduced in an amount of from 0.01 to 0.

Abstract: Polyadducts/polycondensates which can be diluted with water when protonated with an acid and which contain basic nitrogen groups are obtained by the polyaddition reaction of(A) a Mannich base obtained from a monophenol and/or a polyphenol, one or more secondary amines which contain one or more hydroxyalkyl groups, or a mixture of a secondary amine of this type with another secondary amine, and formaldehyde with(B) one or more epoxy resins,and contain groups, which are bonded to aromatic rings, of the formula (I) ##STR1## where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each alkyl of 1 to 9 carbon atoms, or hydroxyalkyl or alkoxyalkyl, each of 2 to 10 carbon atoms, or are linked to one another to form a 5-membered or 6-membered ring, and R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each hydrogen or methyl.These products are useful as binders for cathodic electrocoating.

Abstract: Herbicides containing a mixture of a cyclohexane-1,3-dione derivative of the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, Y and n have the meanings given in the description, and a 3,6-dichloro-2-picolinic acid derivative of the formula ##STR2## where R has the meaning given in the description. These herbicide mixtures display a synergistic action, especially on grassy plants.

Abstract: Rectangular heat-insulating panels of a semi-rigid foam plastic, in particular a foam produced from polystyrene beads, are provided on both sides with a plurality of incisions which run at right angles to the principal plane of the panel and parallel to one end face. The four end faces each have matching tongue and groove profiles. The insulating panels may be used for the heat insulation of parts of buildings, especially of pitched roofs.

Abstract: N-Substituted 2-methylnaphthylamides of the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 have the meanings given in the description, their preparation and their use for controlling fungi.

Abstract: Diphenyl ethers of the formula ##STR1## where Z.sup.1, Z.sup.2 and Z.sup.3 independently of one another are each hyrogen, halogen, nitro, cyano, carboxyl, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or haloalkyl, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, alkylmercapto, haloalkylmercapto, alkylsulfinyl, haloalkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl or haloalkylsulfonyl where alkyl is in each case of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, Y is hydrogen, halogen, cyano or nitro and Q is --CO--NA--OR.sup.1, where A is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a metal ion or an unsubstituted or substituted ammonium ion and R.sup.1 is carboxyalkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl or carbamylalkyl of not more than 10 carbon atoms, herbicides which contain these diphenyl ethers as active ingredients, and methods of controlling undesirable plant growth using these active ingredients.

Abstract: The invention relates to new bicyclo(2.2.1)heptane derivatives of the general formula I ##STR1## wherein R represents a C.sub.1-12 alkyl group optionally substituted by a lower alkoxy group, a C.sub.2-4 alkenyl group or a phenyl-(lower alkyl) group optionally substituted on the phenyl ring by one or more lower alkoxy groups or halogen atoms.The invention relates further to plant growth regulating compositions comprising as active agent 0.001 to 95% by weight of a racemic and/or optically active compound of the general formula I, wherein R has the above defined meanings, along with a conventional organic or inorganic, solid and/or liquid carrier and/or filler and/or diluent and/or surfactant.

Abstract: A process for the production of moldings from unsaturated polyester resins wherein a mixture is first prepared from1. an unsaturated polyester,2. a copolymerizable vinyl compound,3. an inhibitor,4. a photoinitiator,5. a thickener, preferably MgO,6. a pulverulent auxiliary which transmits ultraviolet light and/or7. a fibrous reinforcing material and8. further conventional additives.This mixture is thickened, where appropriate after coating onto a sheet-like carrier, to form a semi-finished product, which is then finally shaped, and cured by UV irradiation after which it may or may not be heat-treated.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of finely divided ferrites of the general formulaMeFe.sub.2 O.sub.4 (I)where Me=aMn+bNi+cZn+dCo+eFe(II), and the atomic weight ratios a, b, c, d and e are each from 0 to 1 and their sum is 1, orM.sup.1.sub.2 Me.sup.1.sub.2 Fe.sub.12 O.sub.22 (II)where M.sup.1 is barium, strontium, calcium and/or lead, and Me.sup.1 is divalent manganese, copper, iron, cobalt, nickel, zinc, magnesium and/or equimolar amounts of lithium and trivalent iron, orM.sup.2 (Me.sup.2 Ti).sub.x Fe.sub.12-2x O.sub.19 (III)where M.sup.2 is barium or strontium, Me.sup.2 is zinc, nickel and/or cobalt and x is from 0 to 2.0, wherein the salts required for the particular composition are mixed with sodium carbonate and/or potassium carbonate, the mixture obtained is heated at 700.degree. to 1200.degree. C., and the resulting ferrite is then isolated by leaching with water.

Abstract: A tape transport apparatus comprising a central drive capstan and take-up and supply reels which are rotatably mounted on supports that ae movable relative to said capstan and can be urged by biasing means toward the capstan to maintain the surface engagement between the periphery of the capstan and the peripheries of the reels. To compensate for the mass moment of inertia of the movable supports and the tape reels mounted thereon, one or more counterweighting means are provided which are movably connected to the supports in such a way that the mass inertias cancel each other out.

Abstract: A tool for reaching into the confined sections of cloth dolls or similar constructions, which can grasp the doll fabric for turning the doll inside out and which can grasp stuffing material for insertion within the doll. The tool comprises two pivotally joined members, each having a finger guide, a long, thin shank, and an opposing jaw. The inner face of at least one jaw may contain surface irregularities along the midline or the jaw face, to facilitate grasping while maintaining a smooth edge around the borders of the jaw.

Abstract: A process for introducing one or more threads into a texturizing nozzle, in which the texturizing nozzle, together with the inlet member, is first brought into a position in which the thread is led transversely past and in the immediate vicinity of the texturizing nozzle, the thread is sucked against the nozzle with the orifice of the inlet member enlarged, immediately after being sucked against the texturizing nozzle the thread is cut beyond the nozzle so that the cut end is sucked back into the nozzle, the suction supply required for the sucking-in is replaced by pressurized fluid texturizing medium, and the cross-section of the inlet orifice of the texturizing device is reduced to a value advantageous for steady state operation.

Abstract: Curable coating compositions of olefinically unsaturated compounds A and an N-vinyl compound B. The N-vinyl compounds carry at least 2 N-vinyl groups and at least one carbonyl group bonded to the nitrogen of the N-vinyl group. The coating compositions can be used for the manufacture of paints, printing inks, printing plates and photoresist materials.
