  • Patent number: 6685729
Abstract: A process for treating aberrant sensory afferents and motor efferents includes performing a singular sensory or motor function test, and identifying an area of dysfunction. A nerve root and pathway to the area of dysfunction, a structural or biochemical component of the dysfunction, vascular supply to the area of dysfunction, blood supply/lymphatic drainage for the area of dysfunction, and viscera associated with the area of dysfunction is then identified. These areas are stimulated using the therapeutic device until retesting no longer detects any dysfunction. Neurological inhibition is identified by performing two or more sensory or motor function tests simultaneously. The therapeutic device is used to stimulate the area of dysfunction, spine and head until the neurological inhibition is no longer detected.

  • Patent number: 6213774
Abstract: A papilla dental implant used in a gum restorative system and its method of use are provided. The papilla dental implant provides a platform or anchor for receded gum tissue to regenerate. The system involves, generally, a papilla dental implant which is forcibly inserted and secured into a jawbone of a patient. The papilla dental implant includes a head and a tapered shaft extending from the head and tapering to a pointed terminus. The shaft of the papilla dental implant may include barbs, threads or multiple separable and expandable sections to more securely hold the implant in the bone. The shaft of the papilla dental implant is inserted and secured into the bone and the gum tissue is allowed to grow around the exposed head of the papilla dental implant, reducing or even eliminating voids or diastemas between the teeth.

  • Patent number: 6126048
Abstract: A removable paint can extension and cover apparatus which can be temporarily attached to manufactured containers of paint products is provided. The apparatus includes, generally, a vertically extending skirt having a lip at an upper edge of a first end and a rim-covering flange towards a second end of the skirt, a lid insertable over the skirt to frictionally engage the lip of the skirt and having a top surface and a wall extending downwardly from the top surface, a spout removably connected to the top surface of the lid and having a filter removably positionable therein, and a fastener for attaching the skirt to the paint container. The top surface of the lid includes a spout-accepting aperture having a flange to which the spout is connected, and an air inlet aperture and a tether aperture to which a detachable spout cap having a tether is attachable.

  • Patent number: 6125882
Abstract: A variable volume fluid storage tank or reservoir and related fluid transfer system are provided for storing and transferring volatile or hazardous fluids, particularly such as fuel in an aircraft fuel supply system. Each fluid storage tank comprises a tank body in combination with a movable base wall defining a variable volume internal chamber for receiving and storing fluid. Each storage tank further includes a dispense port for dispensing the fluid, e.g., to a manifold or the like for supply to one or more aircraft engines, with the base wall moving relative to the tank body during fluid dispensing to substantially preclude any residual air or vapor space within the storage tank. A fluid level sensor unit mounted outside the tank chamber tracks displacement of the base wall to provide an indication of the fluid volume remaining within the storage tank.

  • Patent number: 5662657
Abstract: A bone plug is provided for insertion into the medullary canal of a patient bone during orthopedic surgery, wherein the bone plug restricts or prevents passage of bone cement introduced under pressure into the medullary canal. The bone plug comprises a generally cylindrical member formed from a biocompatible material such as polyethylene and having sets of distal and proximal fins formed thereon. The bone plug is installed with an insertion tool that can be readily manipulated to orient the distal fins to define distally presented outer edges to anchor the bone plug by biting into patient bone, whereas the proximal fins are oriented to define proximally presented outer edges to seal against bypass flow of bone cement past the bone plug.
