Abstract: A valve spring compressor apparatus and method for compressing cylinder valve springs for the removal and installation of their locks or keepers and for replacement of valve stem seals or broken springs on an internal combustion engine, while the cylinder head is mounted on the engine or supported on a work bench. A compressor tool adjustably mounted on a support assembly temporarily secured over the cylinder head has a pivoting hand lever and spring biased push rod which, when manually depressed, moves a compressing member at the bottom of the push rod downward to engage and depress the valve spring and its retainer to gain access and removal of the lock or keeper though openings in the compressor tool.
Abstract: A sleeping bag sized to enclose the body of a user from at least the neck to the toes has a plurality of transverse ingress/egress openings in the top cover disposed between the head end and foot end in parallel longitudinally spaced apart relation at locations corresponding generally to various body areas and segments of a human body that enable concurrent passage of selected parts or segments of the user's body into and out of the interior space such that at least one selected part or segment of the user's body can be extended into the interior space to be covered, while concurrently therewith, other selected parts or segments of the user's body can be left out or extended out of the interior space through other respective openings to be uncovered. The openings may be provided with closures and portions of the closures may be luminescent.
Abstract: An aeration pool or tank has a bottom piping assembly with an inlet at the bottom thereof and an outlet remote from the tank a distance vertically below the inlet, and an air inlet piping assembly having an inlet above the water surface and an outlet within the tank adjacent to the inlet of the bottom piping assembly. Water under pressure flows from the tank by gravity through the bottom piping assembly and draws air through the air inlet piping assembly, mixing it with the exiting water and the aerated water flows into a second body of water across a paddlewheel to disburse the aerated water into the second body of water and create circulation to absorb additional oxygen at the surface of the second body of water. A water circulation piping assembly in the tank creates turbulence and circulation within in the water in the tank.
Abstract: Cumulative thermal exposures monitors and remote indicating cumulative thermal exposure monitors and system for reading the same are disclosed. The monitors have a thermally insulative housing with a cavity and a thermally-responsive member therein formed of shape memory material, which may be provided with a coating or sheath of insulative or shape memory polymer material, that gradually changes from a first shape to a second shape over a prescribed temperature range wherein the thermal capacity and insulative properties of the housing, cavity, and shape memory material transition temperature range are correlated relative to one another and calibrated to closely match a thermal decay profile (time-temperature profile) of the product being monitored. In remote indicating embodiments, the data can be retrieved remotely via RF transponder technology without directly viewing the monitor device.

Abstract: A plurality of interchangeable straight and curved short cylindrical module segments are selectively and releasably joined together end-to-end manually and rotated relative to one another to form full-scale three-dimensional models of desired complex shapes of tubing, pipe, and conduit configurations. The segments are provided in sets having outside diameters corresponding to the outside diameters of conventional tubing, pipe or conduit and have a circumferential scale at each end to visually determine the relative rotation between one segment and an adjoined segment. When assembled, the model provides accurate shapes and dimensions to aid in designing, laying out, cutting, and fabricating tubular members, and for forming tubular configurations from pre-bent metal tubular sections and the proper relative rotation between them.
Abstract: Gases containing smoke, pollutants and volatile organic compounds (VOC's) and a mixing liquid are blended in a swirling vortex into a liquid/gas mixture. Motive air and biological and/or chemical degradation material are introduced through a plurality of spiral jet fluid mixers into the liquid/gas mixture to create a turbulent fluid flow pattern to cause aeration of the liquid/gas mixture, reduce its chemical oxygen demand (COD), and entrain the biological and/or chemical degradation material in the mixture. The biological and/or chemical degradation material significantly reduces or eliminates the pollutants and volatile organic compounds (VOC's) in the aerated liquid/gas mixture to produce a non-volatile liquid, which flows into a reservoir, holding pond or vegetated pond. A portion of the aerated non-volatile liquid may be conducted to a pond containing vegetative growth to complete carbon dioxide conversion via photosynthesis, and vegetative growth from the pond may be harvested.
Abstract: A freestanding back therapy and multiple exercise station on which various therapeutic, stretching, bending, twisting, extension and inversion exercises may be carried out utilizing the user's weight for fully flexing and decompressing the spine and strengthening the trunk and back muscles of the user. The station has a frame of tubular construction with a floor engaging base, front and rear vertical upright members, a horizontal top member extending between upper ends thereof, and a cushioned forearm pad on each said horizontal member with handgrips at outer of the horizontal top members. A lower pair of vertically spaced padded cross members extend transversely between the rear vertical upright members to serve as foot supports. A central upright member is connected at a lower end with at least one padded cross member and has a forward and angularly upward extending upper portion. A backrest pad is mounted the central upright member.
Abstract: Hydrodynamic ridge devices for mounting in pairs on the bottom of aquatic sports watercraft to form channels that capture lateral water flow and direct it longitudinally to enhance stability, speed, control, and performance of the watercraft. Each ridge device is a longitudinal body with a short flat vertical side, a wide flat top side extending horizontally from the top of the vertical side perpendicular thereto terminating in a convex generally arcuate outer edge, and a convex curved bottom side. The vertical side has an arcuate bottom edge that curves upwardly to a point at each end. The outer edge of the top side curves inwardly at each end to the points at the ends of the vertical side, and the curved bottom side curves upwardly and outwardly from the bottom of the vertical side to join the outer edge of the top side and the vertical side end points.

Abstract: A set of generally rectangular flat plates for aquatic exercise that create drag when moved through a body of water. Each flat plate is provided with an arcuate finger slot for receiving the user's four fingers and an aperture for receiving their thumb. The finger slot and thumb aperture are strategically located such that when the plate is gripped, the center of the palm of the user's hand lays over the center of the flat plate on one side and the fingers and thumb are folded over to engage the opposite side and the user's forearm lays parallel to and over the longitudinal center line of the flat plate. Drag produced by moving the flat plate through the water is transferred to the center of the flat plate and the center of that force passes through the center of the palm of the hand.
Abstract: A method for positive locking of a tension leg platform tendon bottom connector C in a tendon receptacle R contained in a tendon foundation pile P, the bottom connector and receptacle having mating locking elements. A vertical space S is provided in the foundation pile between the tendon receptacle and the soil level inside the pile sufficient to allow vertical entry and locking of the bottom connector and receptacle locking elements, and a material M of sufficient density is placed into the space beneath the tendon bottom connector in the tendon receptacle and the soil level inside the pile to limit downward vertical motion of the bottom connector and prevent accidental release of the locking elements. When required, a sufficient amount of the material may be removed to allow the requisite vertical motion of the bottom connector to release the locking elements.
Abstract: A portable food tray pre-wash and water recycling apparatus and method for pre-washing reusable food trays prior to placement in a separate cleaning and sanitizing unit that significantly reduces water wasted in kitchen and scullery areas. The apparatus includes a portable cabinet having a slot in a top end for inserting a food tray, laterally opposed spray nozzles beneath the slot that spray both sides of the tray, laterally opposed rotating brushes beneath the nozzles that scrub the tray, a tray support and brush comb member that supports the tray in a vertical position and removes particles from the brushes, a series of removable incrementally smaller gauge filters vertically spaced beneath the brushes that slide in from one side to filter the water, a water reservoir beneath the filters, a heating unit to heat and disinfect the filtered water, and a pump that recycles heated water back to the nozzles.
Abstract: A tubing hanger apparatus and method for installing coiled tubing in oil and gas wells utilizes a tubing head assembly having a vertical flow passage therethrough, a hydraulically operated piston in an upper portion of the flow passage; a double tapered slip cup and an annular packoff assembly in a lower portion of the flow passage, and a contractible double tapered slip assembly disposed between the piston and slip cup. The piston, in a normally raised position and the slip in a normally radially expanded position allows coiled tubing to be lowered or raised therethrough and through the slip cup and packoff assembly. The piston is lowered by hydraulic pressure to apply a vertical force that radially contracts the slip assembly to grip the tubing and support the weight thereof and the weight is transferred through the slip cup to expand the packoff assembly and seal the tubing.
Abstract: A nozzleless belt-cleaning sprocket support shaft for cleaning endless conveyor belts has a first end, a second end, a central portion of generally square transverse cross section with a plurality of elongate narrow slits in each of the side walls in longitudinally spaced apart relation along its length, and a plurality of sprockets mounted thereon. Cleaning fluid is simultaneously discharged through the slits in a fan spray pattern onto the inside surface of the conveyor, through crevasses, joints, hinges, interfaces and openings in the belt to effect cleaning of the belt, and between the exterior surfaces of the shaft and interior surfaces of the bores of the sprockets and the bearings that support the shaft to effect cleaning of the overlapping surfaces, during rotation of the belt. The cleaning shaft may be used with various types of conveyor belts and the ends may be mounted in conventional bearings.
Abstract: A pivot connection for connecting the wand of a vacuum cleaner hose to a vacuum cleaner nozzle of the type having an exhaust aperture through which air is drawn into a vacuum hose. A three-sided curved duct extends upwardly from a top surface of the nozzle, the duct having a transverse generally rectangular cross section with a curved front wall and contiguous laterally opposed side walls. The front wall and side walls have lower portions surrounding the exhaust aperture on three sides, upper ends defining a generally rectangular open end disposed in an angular plane with respect to a vertical axis, and interior surfaces forming an arcuate extension of the exhaust aperture.
Abstract: A quick release mounting apparatus and method for mounting a room air conditioner in a window opening that utilizes a quick release mounting which supports the weight of the outdoor portion of the air conditioner in a cantilevered condition and, in the event of an emergency, upon releasing a latch mechanism allows the air conditioner to topple rearwardly from the window opening exterior of the room to provide an escape route through the open window. A safety harness may also be provided that suspends the air conditioner unit a distance above the ground on the exterior of the room after it has been released to prevent it from falling to the ground.
Abstract: A rope light track system houses a tubular flexible rope light string and can be mounted on or in various interior and exterior structures to protect the light string from damage and provide utilitarian and decorative lighting. The system includes a plurality of elongate rigid or semi-rigid tracks having a longitudinal generally rectangular U-shaped retention channel with an open end defined by laterally opposed side walls adjoined at one end by a transverse base wall and at least one retainer element near the open end. The tracks have side portions or a mounting flange portion extending outwardly from the retention channel to accommodate various mounting configurations. An elongate tubular flexible rope lighting string is removably mounted in the retention channel and retained therein to prevent accidental removal, and is disposed below the channel open end to protect it from being damaged and allow light emanating therefrom to be directed out of the channel open end.
Abstract: A palletized shipping container for bulk handling of fluid materials has a rigid box-like outer shell within which is positioned a flexible bag and an intermediate corrugated liner sandwiched between the walls of the bag and shell. The bag has flap-like extensions at an upper end attached to the walls of the shell to maintain the bag in an erect uncollapsed configuration, a non-removable bung at its top end, and a non-removable discharge valve adjacent its bottom end. The bung is releasably retained at the top of the liner to maintain the bung in a proper position and prevent sagging of the bag. An inwardly and downwardly angled cushioned surface at the bottom of the shell supports the liner and bag, provides additional cushioning, facilitates emptying of the bag, and reduction of residual material. The pallet allows 4-sided entry of fork lift forks.
Abstract: A process for maintaining ongoing registration for pages on a given search engine is disclosed. It is a method to actively cause an updating of a specific Internet search engine database regarding a particular WWW resource. The updated information can encompass changed, added, or deleted content of a specific WWW site. The process comprises the steps of having software tools at a local WWW site manually and/or automatically keep an index of added, changed, or deleted content to a particular WWW site since that WWW site was last indexed by a specific Internet search engine. The software tools will notify a specific Internet search engine of the URLs of specific WWW site resources that have been added, changed, or deleted. The Internet search engine will process the list of indices of changes, additions or deletions provided by a web site, or add the URL of resources that require indexing or re-indexing to a database and visit the WWW site to index added or re-index changed content when possible.
