Abstract: A brake for exerting a tensioning force on a casing into which meat or the like is stuffed includes a movable braking element whereby the tensioning force may be released at an appropriate point in the cycle to permit air to be exhausted from the stuffing horn. Preferably the braking element comprises an inflatable elastomeric collar.
Abstract: An orthopedic seat comprises three portions that are linked together to permit the seat to be folded into a compact package for carrying. The linkage permits the forward portion of the seat to be detached so as to adapt the seat for use with chairs having a small back to front dimension.
Abstract: In a paper envelope with a tear-off end, the end is substantially severed from the body of the envelope by an elongated slit, and the slit is bridged by an adhering foil preferably selected for its ability to tear along a straight line.
Abstract: The sculpture is created by accreting successive layers of a vitreous material under close temperature control on a core to form a solid unified mass and of depositing pellicular images on one or more of said layers; said images, which may be photographically generated, being variously sinuous, discrete, diaphanous, colored and spaced apart from each other in both radial and axial directions of the solid mass which constitutes the sculpture and which is characterized by said images apparently floating freely within the mass composing a general design, scene, display or decoration.
Abstract: Apparatus for dispensing product such as meat into packaging therefor comprises a portioning cell movable between a first station wherein it is charged with product and a second station wherein it locates above the packaging. A funnel is associated with the second station, and is mounted for vertical movement so as to locate the discharge opening of the funnel below the level of the upper perimeter of the packaging when the portioning cell is at the second station, and to raise the funnel thereafter so as to permit the passage of the packaging. A gutter is provided adjacent the second station for intercepting fluid leakage from the portioning cell.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a tail pipe replacement kit for automotive vehicle comprises forming a first arch section and a second spout section separate therefrom and connectable thereto. The two sections in kit form are secured together in overlapping relationship expediently using adhesive tape. Cardboard cheeks sandwich the bight of the arch to enclose therewith a space wherein hardware for the assembly of the kit is enclosed. The arch sections are conformed to fit within the spatial envelopes of a plurality of vehicles. It is found that some 25 different kits can service a market presently serviced by about 250 tail pipes formed as a unitary whole. The kits are easier to transport and easier to install in comparison to unitary tail pipes.
Abstract: A backrest comprising a moulded shell support having in medial longitudinal section a shallow S shape and in lateral section a shallow concave shape. The support is upholstered by a foam layer and a fabric cover stretched between the lateral margins to assist in delocalizing pressures on the back of a user and assist in ventilating the backrest.
Abstract: A clock has a face comprising a rigid base layer, an overlaying layer of resilient padding and an enveloping film layer. The clock movement may be conveniently supported from the face, the sounding board effect of the base layer being diminished by the foam layer. The base may formed of hardboard or the like, the film layer providing both a decorative and protective function therefor.
Abstract: An artificial shrub comprises a central trunk and a plurality of branches connected thereto by a loop at the end of each branch which is receivable directly on the trunk. Shrubs of this construction are easily user assembled and adjusted for aesthetic effect, particularly where the branches are of appreciable axial extent and downwardly, outswept from the loops. A branch rest in the form of a serrated hoop may be provided to give lateral and radial support for the branch ends.
Abstract: Disclosed is method and apparatus including a tank in which shredded corrugate is immersed and shuffled in a solvent fluid capable of attacking and weakening the adhesive bonding the core ply from the liner plies; said corrugate being advanced from its entry point into the tank to an exit point therefrom at a timed rate to limit its absorption of the solvent fluid prior to its transfer to delaminating apparatus.
