  • Patent number: 4615667
Abstract: The present invention provides a multiple platen-multiple position press or injection blow molding apparatus for use in the blow molding of containers in which a preform is molded onto a core and is moved relative to the core to space a body portion of the preform from the core when the core is in the blowing station to facilitate the temperature conditioning of the preform to achieve a desired biorientation of the thermoplastic material from which the preform is made when the preform is blow molded to form a container. The temperature conditioning may be achieved by allowing stabilization of the temperature gradient through the material of the preform with or without the assistance of a supply of gas to the preform at a desired temperature.

  • Patent number: 4506140
Abstract: An electric heater adapted to be extended through an aperture in a tank wall for immersion in a fluid to be heated includes an elongated heater block structure formed by a metal core cast in a tubular metal shell. The core has a plurality of axially extending cavities, each removably receiving an individual elongated electric heating element having a terminal end extending from an open end of the cavity. An end plate secured to the shell of the heater provides a radially projecting flange for use in connecting the heater to the tank. The terminal end of each heating element projects through the end plate and the wall of a terminal box. Packing devices are provided around the heating elements to seal apertures in the end plate and terminal box wall through which the heating elements extend. The terminal box is spaced from the end plate to isolate the box from the heater block and the tank in order to minimize the possibility of leakage of liquid into the box.

  • Patent number: 4487622
Abstract: The invention concerns the improvement of the fiber distribution in a web or mat, the attenuation of the fibers being effected by means of gas currents. The material delivered in the form of filaments is attenuated in a channel between two gas jets. At the outlet of the channel, the gas current carrying the fibers entrains the ambient air and passes through a guide apparatus containing two walls. The circulation of the air induced between the channel and the guide apparatus is modified by the interposition of baffles. The modification provides for improvement in the uniformity in the fiber web being made.

  • Patent number: 4483253
Abstract: A multiple axle railway truck having side frames with pedestals, roller bearings for the axles received in the pedestal jaws with clearance in a direction fore-and-aft of the vehicle to permit relative yawing motion of the axles. A yielding pad is provided between the bearing and the base of each pedestal jaw, and a transverse plank extends between the side frames to restrain fore-and-aft motion of the side frames and is torsionally flexible thereby permitting relative angular motion of the side frames in vertical planes.

  • Patent number: 4478624
Abstract: The invention relates to the distribution on a receiving device of fibers carried by a gas current. To improve the distribution, the gas current carrying the fibers is subjected to the action of a gas layer which envelopes the current and of which the direction of flow in a plane tangent to the gas current differs from that of the gas current. The action of the gas layer results in an expansion of the current carrying the fibers. The invention is particularly useful where the fibers are received on a collecting device such as a foraminous conveyor belt, of large width.

  • Patent number: 4471595
Abstract: Improved constructional building set comprising as its basic elements a plurality of linking units, each linking unit comprising at least one connecting rod with a generally ball shaped head portion at each end thereof. A plurality of coupling members engage the head portions to couple the linking units. These coupling members have a clamping construction which tightens such that a pair of clamping members are urged toward each other about the rod head portions. Thus provided is a building set which is easy and inexpensive to manufacture and affords numerous possibilities of assembling stable structures. Such structure is useful not only as construction toys, but also for the construction of articles for everyday use.
