Abstract: A coupling or adapter assembly that serves as a transition device for interconnecting a fluid source, such as a fire hydrant, to a conduit, piping system or hose includes an adapter portion of generally cylindrical configuration having a fluid conveyance bore of non-uniform diameter extending therethrough and annular threads at opposed ends of the adapter portion. The annular threads at one end of the adapter portion are of a stepped threaded configuration in order to engage the inner annular double threaded configuration of a ring member that is externally threaded onto the adapter portion thereby binding the adapter portion to the ring member so that they function as an integral, one piece transition device interconnecting, for example, a fire hydrant to a Storz-type coupling of a hose or conduit.
Abstract: A hunting arrowhead with a broadhead and extendable blades arrayed around a generally tubular main body with four equally-spaced longitudinal troughs. The broadhead blade is inserted into one opposed pair of troughs and secured in place, and an extendable L-shaped blade is pivotally secured within each of the other pair of opposed troughs, each such extendable blade held in place by a pivot pin allowing the blade to pivot about the distal end of the long leg. In a retracted position, the cutting edges of each extendable blade, located along the outside edge of the long leg, are housed within the corresponding trough, while the short leg extends outwardly from the arrowhead body nearest the forward or tip end of the body. A rubber band or O-ring holds the extendable blades in this retracted position. Upon impact with the target, the short legs feel the force of the impact and cause the extendable blade to quickly rotate into an open position, overcoming the resistance of the rubber-band or O-ring.
Abstract: A wheel bearing lubrication sleeve, including a sleeve body and a handle attached thereto. The sleeve body further comprises a shoulder, a sealing ring, a guide shaft, and an angular grease passage with an entrance at the shoulder and an exit at the sealing ring. The device is Inserted into the inner bore of a typical automobile wheel hub until seated on the shoulder after the hub has been removed from the vehicle. When the device has been inserted into the wheel hub, grease can be introduced into the entrance of the grease passage and communicated through the passage to the wheel bearings within the hub, thereby allowing the bearings to be repacked with grease quickly and easily.
Abstract: The apparatus disclosed is a type of downhole pressure gauge to be used to measure and record pressure information about oil and gas wells. The apparatus measures fluctuations in pressure by means of a mechanical pressure sensitive device, such as a Bourdon tube, and records and stores this information by converting mechanical movement, associated with pressure changes as detected by the mechanical pressure sensitive device, into corresponding voltage changes across a potentiometer which are stored in an electronic memory board. The change in voltage over time corresponds to the change in well pressure over time, thereby providing important information to the well operator. Also disclosed is a method for measuring well pressure by means of combining a mechanical pressure sensitive device with an electrical system and an electronic memory board for storing the measurements.
