Abstract: In a vertical lift for use in exterior locations to raise and lower a person, the lift comprising a support frame, a tower frame mounted on the support frame, a carriage secured to the tower frame so as to be vertically movable with respect thereto, a drive system associated with the tower frame to raise and lower the carriage between an upper and a lower position, and control means to enable a person using the lift to activate and deactivate the drive system as required, the improvement characterized in that the tower frame comprises a plurality of vertically extending guides secured to the tower frame and a carriage guide frame secured to the carriage and movably associated with the guides, and the drive system comprises a vertically oriented drive screw which, when activated, rotates in one direction to raise or in the opposite direction to lower a nut seated thereon so as not to rotate therewith, the guide frame supported by the nut for raising or lowering therewith.

Abstract: The present invention provide for a recuperation basin. The basin comprises a basin section having a bottom and circumscribing walls, and an adjacent liquid storage container having walls circumscribing a central chamber. One of the walls of the basin and one of the walls of the container intermediate the two form a common wall. An aperture is located in the common wall so as to permit passage of liquid in the container chamber into the basin and to permit passage of liquid from the basin into the container chamber by tilting the recuperation basin so the basin is somewhat above the container chamber.

Abstract: Provides users with an accessible continuously updated arrival time estimate of the next vehicle arriving at vehicle stops such as bus stops. Three discrete data streams are collected at a central computer and radio-beamed to portable receivers, each of which places some of the data in memory and uses some for real-time display, when the unit has been activated by the user. One stream allows time estimate to be computed; a second updates route changes; a third places messages such as cross-street data into unit memory, or displays storm warnings or the like. Users can enter specific stops and routes, can program audible pre-alert arrival warnings, can choose to be alerted to specific vehicle types (such as handicap accessible), and can see two arrival time estimates simultaneously, either for two different stops of different routes (to compute transfers) or of two sequential vehicles arriving at the same stop.

Abstract: A banner construction for securing to an anchor. The construction comprises a banner made of a predetermined material of rectangular shape having four corners. A rigid plastic sheet having opposite faces is enveloped within the material at each corner. The opposite faces are secured to the material with adhesives so as to form an integral corner section. Aligned apertures through the material and sheet are provided at each corner. Resilient shock absorbers means are releasably securable to the apertures at each corner.

Abstract: An eye wear device comprising a frame and lens means supported by the frame to be positioned in front of a wearer's eyes. The improvement characterized in that the lens means is coated with an electrically conductive heat generating layer to be positioned in the wearer's field of vision when the eye wear is worn, and of sufficient resistance to produce enough heat to remove moisture build-up on the lens means.

Abstract: A device to be connected to the lower end of a tubing string for removing sand or other debris from oil producing formations below a surface, the device comprising a combination of a thrust and rotational bearing assembly, a rotationally driven downhole pump comprising a rotor and a stator to provide hydraulic energy to lift fluid to the surface, a transfer chamber secured to the pump providing fluid communication between the pump and the tubing string to direct fluid from the pump to enter the string, a nose section secured to the pump rotor and constructed so that sand is mixed with wellbore fluid, a guide to take the mixture to the pump and an anti-rotation device secured to the pump constructed so as to prevent rotation of the pump stator while allowing axial movement of the pump.

Abstract: A system for attaching a sign to a chain link fence of the type having post-supported interwoven wires producing a matrix of wire lengths extending between wire cross-over centers. The system comprises a sign, to the rear surface of which one or more attachment devices are secured. The attachment devices each comprise a pair of sections each having a face with circumscribing sides and interlocking means to secure the sections together along edges of their sides. The sections, when secured together over a cross-over center produce a hollow device having opposed faces and sides extending therebetween. The sides of the device have slots, when the device is so seated, located as to be seated over corresponding portions of the wire lengths extending outwardly from that center. A plurality of such devices supporting a sign, when secured to a chain link fence at predetermined locations, provide a simple and secure means for securing a sign to a chain link fence.

The improvement is characterized in that a second case is provided secured to the first and having a chamber separate from the chamber of the carrying case, and access means being provided for the chamber of the second case other than through the chamber of the carrying case.

Abstract: In accordance with the present invention an umbrella with a detachable cover is provided, of the type comprising a shaft, a handle at one end, ribs hingedly secured to the other end and means associated with the shaft to move the ribs between open and closed position, with the cover supported on the ribs. The improvement according to the present invention is characterized in that a flexible strip extends about the ribs secured to their free ends, and attachment means are secured to portions of the ribs and the flexible strip, and corresponding attachment means are secured to corresponding portions of the cover so that the cover is releasably attachable to the ribs.
