  • Patent number: 7661367
Abstract: A radial-linear shaped charge pipe cutter is constructed with the booster explosive packed intimately into a booster aperture that is bored axially through the charge upper end plate. The cutter explosive is initiated at the interface between the upper margin of the cutter explosive and the contiguous inside surface of the upper end plate. This interface is within a critical initiation distance from the half charge juncture plane. In one embodiment, a half charge liner is configured as the assembly of two, coaxial, frusto-cones with the smaller cone diverging from the half charge juncture plane at a smaller angle than the outer cone. In another embodiment, the liner thickness increases from the juncture plane out to the liner perimeter.

  • Patent number: 7640857
Abstract: A tool for use in a wellbore has an activation assembly, which has a support structure and a reactive layer on the support structure. The reactive layer is formed of a pyrotechnic material. The activation assembly also includes an electrically conductive protective layer covering the reactive layer to protect the reactive layer from electrical discharge. The tool further includes a component to be activated by the activation assembly.

  • Patent number: 7640986
Abstract: A perforating gun has a gun carrier extending in a longitudinal direction and a loading tube located within the gun carrier. The loading tube extends in the longitudinal direction and a shape charge is supported by the loading tube. The shape charge has a casing, an explosive, and a liner, the casing opening in a first direction and having a centerline extending in the first direction, the first direction being essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. A liquid implant is located adjacent to the shape charge in the first direction and intersecting the centerline.

  • Patent number: 7628207
Abstract: Pressure-balanced accumulator apparatus for use in subsea operations is disclosed which comprises a housing and an accumulator within the housing at the first end of the housing. The accumulator has first and second chambers that are hermetically sealed from one another, with a pressurized gas in the first chamber and a pressurized fluid in the second chamber. A third chamber in the housing abuts the accumulator and contains silicon oil fluid. A movable piston is located within the housing proximate the second end of the housing. Ambient pressure is communicated to one end of the piston, and ambient pressure plus the pressure in the second chamber is communicated to the second end of the piston. The cross-sectional areas of the two ends of the piston are selected to optimize the pressure at which the piston begins to expel fluid from the second chamber.

  • Patent number: 7614296
Abstract: A method and device for a liquid media parameters determination, wherein an extended heater oriented along the fluid flow is installed in the fluid flow. Fluid flow temperature is measured. The heater is heated up and the temperatures at the interfaces “heater front surface?flow zone” and “heater rear surface?flow zone” are measured; for the both interfaces, measured values are used for calculating temperature difference between the said heater and the flow, while the water-to-oil relationship is determined through calculations by using either mathematical or graphic relationships. The device for determining the parameters of fluid flow comprising a heater, characterized in that the heater has an extended shape and is oriented along the fluid flow direction, with two thermal sensors located at the opposite ends of the heater, which are capable of transmitting measured data remotely.
