Abstract: In a cutting machine (2), including rotatably mounted cutting or shearing tools (19), a loading ramp and a hauling means (4) extend in a direction towards a mine face for receiving and hauling cut or sheared material. The cutting or shearing tools (19) are mounted on a slide which is displaceable on guides extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine. The guides are comprised of tubes or rods connected with a machine flame in the region of the track-laying gears (1), preferably within the track-laying gear frame. The slide is comprised of longitudinal spars (10) and a crossbeam (9) for mounting the cutting or shearing tools (19). The machine frame, at least in its front region adjacent the crossbeam (9), is designed as a box section (3), within the clear width of which the hauling means (4) is guided in a manner so as to be displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the machine.

Abstract: A snow thrower engine carburetor is covered by a heater box provided with a channel through which air passes so as to be heated by the engine's muffler. The heated airstream is changed in direction as it leaves the heater box and moves towards the carburetor whereby moisture carried in the airstream is separated therefrom before the heated air reaches the carburetor.

Abstract: A method for processing steel slags and optionally iron carriers such as, e.g., electric furnace slags, converter slags, dusts derived from steel production, mill scale or secondary metallurgical residues, in which the molten steel slags or iron carriers are supplemented with chromium ores or chromium-containing and/or nickel-containing dusts in order to adjust a slag basicity of 1.2 to 1.6, whereby the bath temperature is maintained at above 1600° C., in particular between 1650° C. and 1800° C., and a carbon-containing iron bath is provided or formed. In addition to environmentally safe slags, a high-grade ferrochromium alloy may be recovered, thus enhancing the economy of the method.
Abstract: The invention describes an activated supersulphated aluminosilicate binder containing aluminosilicates, calcium sulphate and an activator containing alkali metal salts, wherein the aluminosilicates are selected from the group consisting of blast furnace slag, clay, marl and industrial by-products such as fly ash with the proviso that the Al2O3 content is greater than 5% by weight, wherein blast furnace slag is present in an amount exceeding 35% by weight and clay, marl and/or fly ash is present in an amount exceeding 5% per weight and wherein cement kiln dust in an amount of from 3 to 10% by weight is added to the mixture as an activator and calcium sulphate is used in an amount exceeding 5% by weight.
Abstract: In a device for displacing the movable parts of rail switches or crossings, in which a plurality of hydraulic cylinder piston units engaging in an offset manner in the longitudinal direction of the rails are each connected in series, at least one directional or seat valve (9) capable of being adjusted in a pressure controlled manner is inserted in the duct (8) that connects the hydraulic cylinder piston units (1 to 4) arranged in series, which directional or seat valve blocks the connection to the consecutive cylinder piston unit if a preset differential pressure is exceeded.
Abstract: A method for housing sensors in a package and, in particular, housing chemical sensors, flow sensors or optical sensors in a synthetic package. In a first step, the active sensor surface of a semiconductor or IC sensor is provided with a cap forming a hollow space above the active sensor surface and the sensor is connected with contacts and bond wires. In a second method step, the package is formed by molding, in particular injection molding. In a third method step, or simultaneously with the second method step, the hollow space formed above the active sensor surface is opened.

Abstract: A snow thrower engine cover is provided with spaced interior walls to define a first space for receiving air used to cool the engine, a second space for retaining air heated by the engine's exhaust and a third space between the walls for restricting heat transfer from the second space to the interior wall which defines the first space.
Abstract: The invention relates to a curve path of a switch comprising switch tongues, a main track and a branch track, which curve path from the beginning of the curve path to the end of the curve path is comprised of several portions having different curvatures 1/R, R being the radius of curvature, wherein the coefficient of curvature &agr;=1/R/1/Rmin at the beginning of the curve path (&agr;A) and at the end of the curve path (&agr;E) is selected to be ≧0 and the point, or a region, in which &agr;=1 is located at a relative distance &ngr;=L/Lges≠0.5 from the beginning of the curve path, L being the distance from the beginning of the curve path and Lges being the length of the curve path.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for processing steel slags and iron carriers such as, e.g., electric furnace slags, converter slags, fine ores, dusts from the production of steel and millscale, for recovering pig iron and environmentally safe slags. A molten slag bath and a molten iron bath are used at a volume ratio of between 0.5:1 and 1.5:1 and carbon carriers are introduced into the bath and hot air is top-blown. From the starting slags and iron carriers, a mixed slag having a basicity CaO/SiO2 of between 1.2 and 2.
Abstract: A device for locking the end positions of movable railway switch parts in which two parts axially displaceable relative to each other are displaced into a position coupled to each other for movement in at least one direction. The relatively displaceable parts, formed by a tube and a rod guided within the tube, are arranged at least partially within a stationary external tube. Locking elements comprising balls cooperate with the axially displaceable parts and the external tube and are displaceable radially into a lock position within a recess of the external tube. The balls are surrounded by a ring resiliently held in a position having an outer diameter smaller than, or equal to, the outer diameter of the axially displaceable tube retained in a peripheral groove of the tube. The balls are arranged in openings in the tube between the rod and the ring.
Abstract: A string trimmer head is provided for receiving and retaining separate lengths of string supplied from outside the head. String lengths passing through openings in the periphery of the head are held by clamping members provided within the head. The clamping members are selectively opened by activation of respective slidable members provided on the upper surface of the head in order to release short lengths of previously supplied string and/or to permit the receipt of new string lengths. On release of the slidable members, the respective clamping members move towards one another for clamping purposes under the influence of springs.
Abstract: A cantilevered leaf spring is formed at its proximal end to the housing of a power equipment unit. The distal end of the spring carries a bushing which engages a control cable for operating components of the unit. The proximal end of the spring is adjustably secured to the housing to impart a desired spring force to the cable so as to remove slack therefrom and to properly tension the cable.
