  • Patent number: 5435535
Abstract: A transport path is branched into a main pass and a bypass. A deflector is provided at a branch point, for switching the path either to the bypass or to the main pass. Sheet detection switches are respectively provided along the bypass and the main pass, and also on a stapler plate, for controlling the rotation of a transfer roller. In this way, a first sheet being transported through the main pass and a second sheet being transported through the bypass can be discharged onto the stapler plate at the same time. As a result, the problem of the device being made larger or reducing the quality of the sheets can be prevented, and a faster process after copying can be achieved. If a second sheet of a next set is not detected on the bypass within a predetermined time period, the sheet in the main pass is discharged.

  • Patent number: 5434627
Abstract: Cross talk between luminance and chrominance is eliminated in a Weston Clean PAL codec by replacing the band pass filter used in a conventional codec with a high pass filter (L) and introducing a compensating low pass filter (X) into the chrominance path, the filters being chosen such that L=4F'*(1-F') and X(f)=(F'(f):(1-F'(f)) where F'=F(2fsc-f) and L is a low pass (5.5 MHz) filter 248 applied before transmission in the PAL channel.

  • Patent number: 5426465
Abstract: To increase the horizontal bandwith of the Weston PAL chrominance signal spectrum folding techniques are used. Spectral components with high horizontal frequency and low vertical and/or temporal frequency are carried as components with low horizontal frequency and high vertical and/or temporal frequency. A matrix (120) forms U+V(P) and U-V(M) chrominance signals which are then prefiltered using either rhombic spatial filters or rhombic vertical-temporal filters (122, 124). The two signals are then sampled by sampler (126, 128) which together with switch (136) form U+V samples on alternate lines to the U-V samples. The sampling patterns for the P and M signals are identical but shifted.

  • Patent number: 5425008
Abstract: A magneto-optical memory device is provided with a recording track having a recording film and a guide track wherein a perpendicular magnetic film, whose magnetization direction is arranged in one direction, is formed, the recording track and the guide track being alternatively disposed. A recording operation is carried out using a circular magnetic field generated from the perpendicular magnetic film by projecting a light beam only on the recording track so as to raise the temperature of the recording film. When erasing, the light beam is projected on the recording track and respective portions of the guide tracks located on both sides of the recording track so as to raise the temperature thereof. As the temperature rises, the magnetization of the perpendicular magnetic film becomes smaller, and an erasing operation is therefore performed using an external magnetic field.

  • Patent number: 5422865
Abstract: A magneto-optical recording method includes the steps of applying an external magnetic field perpendicularly onto the magnetic thin film with perpendicular magnetization of a magneto-optical recording medium and projecting a light beam onto the magneto-optical recording medium; and modulating the intensity of the light beam between the first light intensity and the second light intensity in response to the information to be recorded while shifting a spot of the light beam, thereby recording information. In the above method, the first light intensity is set such that by reducing the coercive force of the magnetic thin film with perpendicular magnetization, a magnetic domain is formed on the magnetic thin film with perpendicular magnetization, and that the magnetic domain is moved as the spot of the light beam is shifted. The second light intensity is set such that by increasing the coercive force of the magnetic thin film with perpendicular magnetization, the magnetic domain is fixed to the position.

  • Patent number: 5422658
Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel is so constructed that a plurality of pixels are arranged in a matrix form having the number of lines twice that of horizontal scanning lines for one field of interlaced scanning video signals obtained by scanning an original image every other line, the arrangement of the pixels being shifted horizontally by one-half of a pixel between adjacent upper and lower lines. A row driving circuit applies, to the pixels in the upper line of the two adjacent upper and lower lines, data voltages obtained by sampling a video signal representing one horizontal scanning line by a clock signal of the timing that matches the number of pixels in the upper line and the arrangement of the pixels, and applies, to the pixels in the lower line, data voltages obtained by sampling the above video signal representing one horizontal scanning line by a clock signal of the timing shifted by 1/2 cycle from the above clock signal.

  • Patent number: 5418547
Abstract: A matrix-type display device capable of effecting color-displaying is constructed such that the mode of sampling neighboring RGB data can be optionally selected from two modes, e.g., three-point successive sampling mode and three-point simultaneous sampling mode. In the case of the three-point successive sampling mode, since pulses are generated successively so that each pulse is shifted by one-dot term .tau. from one another, the pulse terms of sampling pulses are shifted by one-dot term .tau. from one another. Accordingly, pixel signals supplied to respective three neighboring RGB pixels are shifted by one-pixel equivalent. On the other hand, in the case of the three-point simultaneous sampling, generated pulses all stay at high level at any time. Therefore, the pulse terms of sampling pulses are made coincident, so that pixel signals supplied to respective three neighboring RGB pixels are of data on an identical point.

  • Patent number: 5410329
Abstract: A detection and hold circuit outputs a reference signal having a level proportional to an x-coordinate detection pulse input from an X-coordinate signal amplifier. A delay element delays the reference signal. An adder adds the x-coordinate detection pulse from the X-coordinate signal amplifier and a delayed signal from the delay element. Comparators obtain a coordinate detection pulse making a detection signal from another detection and hold circuit for an LCD voltage inversion pulse serve as a reference signal. Thus noise following the x-coordinate detection pulse is removed to generate a coordinate detection pulse with a reference value corresponding to the level of the LCD voltage inversion pulse to allow a stable coordinate detection to be achieved.

  • Patent number: 5400050
Abstract: A driving circuit for use in a display apparatus for transmitting a video signal to data lines includes a plurality of shift registers; a control signal generating circuit for outputting a control signal which is at the ON level during a period shorter than a pulse width of signals outputted by the shift registers; a switching circuit controlled to be ON or OFF based on the control signal; and a sampling capacitor for holding the video signal sampled by the switching circuit. In such a driving circuit, the plurality of shift registers sequentially output signals so that the periods in which the signals are high are partially overlapped sequentially. The control signal generating circuit outputs a control signal which is at the On level during a period shorter than the signals from the shift registers. Since the switching circuit is controlled to be ON or OFF based on the control signal, a period in which the switching circuit is conductive is short.
