  • Patent number: 6443240
Abstract: A dual riser assembly for use with an offshore multi-activity drilling assembly to conduct drilling operations from a deck above the surface of a body of water into the bed of the body of water utilizing two risers, a first and a second, which extend from a location above the surface of a body of water to a common location adjacent to the bed of the body of water. Each riser terminates, at a distal end, into a dual riser assembly, allowing for selective open internal communication between each of the two risers and a single wellhole.

  • Patent number: 6423094
Abstract: Accommodative intraocular lens systems having two lenses or one lens and one ring connected by sections of the same material are manufactured from a sheet material, and then the connecting sections are bent to align the optical axis of the lenses. Accommodation is achieved either when the two lenses are moved closer and further from each other, or when the single lens is moved closer and farther from the retina of the eye.

  • Patent number: 6412243
Abstract: An ultra-lite modular composite building assembly system, comprising the lamination of rigid solid and expanded matrix materials, that can produce a functionally homogeneous composite structure capable of supporting over three hundred times its own weight. The rigid material, as the primary structure capable of sustained axial stress, is encapsulated within the body of the matrix material as a sheet or membrane that is bonded to and laterally braced by the matrix material. As a corrugated sheet or membrane, it may be either thermoformed or extruded and integrated into the body of the matrix composite in either a static or continuous foam molding process. The rigid material may be a solid polymer and the matrix material may be either an expanded polymer or any other structural foam matrix with similar characteristics. Further, extremities of the rigid material may be configured for tools-free interlock with adjacent building components.

  • Patent number: 6273193
Abstract: A dynamically positioned, concentric riser, drilling system comprising a dynamically positioned drilling unit operable to float at least partially above the surface of a body of water, a first, outer, low-pressure, marine riser extending from the drilling unit into the body of water, a tensioning system to support the first marine riser, a second, inner, high-pressure, marine riser concentrically extending within the first, outer, low-pressure, marine riser, a surface blowout preventor, a lower marine riser package, a subsea blowout preventor, and a connector at the base of the lower marine riser package to release the risers from the wellhead in the event of a loss of station of the drilling unit.
