  • Patent number: 6727437
Abstract: Methods, memory devices, module boards and systems are disclosed utilizing a non-continuous conductive layer in their circuit board as opposed to a substrate having a continuous length of metal such as copper from one end to the other. By ensuring that a non-continuous conductive layer is no longer present in a substrate, deformation and warping of the substrate or circuit board can be reduced. This can reduce or prevent future errors in processing from occurring due to the tight tolerance required in processing of circuit boards.

  • Patent number: 6703640
Abstract: A spring element used in a temporary package for testing semiconductors is provided. The spring element is compressed so as to press the semiconductor, either in the form of a bare semiconductor die or as part of a package, against an interconnect structure. The spring element is configured so that it provides sufficient pressure to keep the contacts on the semiconductor in electrical contact with the interconnect structure. Material is added and/or removed from the spring element so that it has the desired modulus of elasticity. The shape of the spring element may also be varied to change the modulus of elasticity, the spring constant, and the force transfer capabilities of the spring element. The spring element also includes conductive material to increase the thermal and electrical conductivity of the spring element.

  • Patent number: 6698326
Abstract: A lockup device for securing cutting mats to a rotary anvil comprises a base portion, one sidewall, and a wedge portion, and is adapted to be inserted into the channel of the rotary anvil such that the sidewall of the lockup device is adjacent a wall of the channel. A cutting mat having opposing first and second flanged ends is wrapped around the rotary anvil. The first flange is compressed between the locking wedge and the sidewall of the lockup device. The second flange is compressed between the locking wedge and a channel wall. As such, the locking wedge and cutting mat are frictionally secured to the rotary anvil. Further, the cutting mat may be quickly repositioned by releasing the second flange from the channel. When the cutting mat is unwrapped from the rotary anvil, the lockup device remains secured to the first flange, allowing for quick repositioning.

  • Patent number: 6649467
Abstract: A dynamic random access memory (DRAM) includes a plurality of memory cells aligned with one another along a pair of wordlines with each wordline being connected to access alternate ones of the memory cells. The DRAM memory cells are formed by transistor stacks that are aligned along and interconnected by wordlines extending between and included within the transistor stacks. By forming the wordlines as a part of the transistor stacks, the wordlines are narrow ribbons of conductive material. During formation of the transistor stacks, the wordlines are connected so that a first wordline controls access transistors of every other one of the memory cells and a second wordline controls the access transistors of the remaining memory cells.

  • Patent number: 6650242
Abstract: A movement detection and warning system is provided and includes a transmitter means for transmitting a signal in association with an event or an object. The signal is adapted for triggering a detector means. The detector means is tuned to only detect the signal transmitted by the transmitter means when the detector is located within a predetermined distance from the transmitter means. The detector means activates an alarm means in response to being triggered by the transmitted signal thereby providing an early and distinct warning to people in the vicinity of the detector in order to eliminate or reduce the chances of the person sustaining injury. According to another aspect of the present invention there is provided a method of warning a person of the proximity of an object or event. According to the method, the object or event is associated with a transmitter means for transmitting a signal.

  • Patent number: 6641048
Abstract: An elongate strip formable into a wristband. The elongate strip includes adhesive contact portions and one or more laterally-placed adhesive winged detents such that upon looped formation of the wristband, an adhesive bond is formed at the contact portions, and the detents can be folded over one or more parts of the elongate strip to provide enhanced wristband durability. In one configuration, a multi-ply sheet is defined by an elongate strip formable into a wristband and an array of labels, all die cut into a first ply adhesively removable from a second ply. The sheet can be either an individual cut sheet, part of a continuous fan-folded form or part of a larger continuous roll, any of which can be fed into a conventional automated printer to facilitate the placing of printed indicia on the wristband and labels.

  • Patent number: 6634233
Abstract: A method for the determining ultrasonic sound propagation speed and wall thickness of a tubular object. Time-domain and frequency-domain analyses are used, where the latter can determine acoustic dispersion if the specimen is made up of a dispersive material. Time of flight data is sensed from a series of transmitted ultrasonic waves, some of which are reflected and some of which are transmitted. The time of flight data can be used to calculate speed of sound in the tube, as well as wall thickness. Inherent in the time of flight data is the speed of the ultrasonic wave; accordingly, correction for temperature variations in the tube is not required. The calculations based on measured speed of sound quantities produces more accurate results than in calculations where the speed of sound in the specimen is assumed.

  • Patent number: 6633180
Abstract: A semiconductor die is provided with an internally programmable router to assign signal paths to select connection points. A switching matrix incorporating at least one antifuse is utilized to selectively route signal paths on the semiconductor die. The chips can then be used individually, for example to reconfigure chip pin assignments to operate in a plurality of different socket layouts, or where features or controls of a chip are selectively enabled or disabled. A further alternative involves programming a first chip, then stacking piggyback, or one on top of the other, the first chip onto a second chip. The contact pins are electrically coupled together, thus avoiding the need for external frames and pin rerouting schemes to form stacked chips. In the stacked chip configuration, control pins are rerouted to align with unused pins on the chip stacked against.

  • Patent number: 6631599
Abstract: A panel insert for attaching objects to a precast panel surface. The insert is made from a one-piece elongate body of plastic and comprises one or more attachment securing chambers that form a secure engagement with an attachment, where the attachment preferably includes architectural or related decorative features. At least one inward-facing spine can be included on the insert to help secure the insert to the panel. Preferably, the secure engagement between the decorative attachment and the attachment securing chamber is in the nature of an interlocking, male-female connection, where such connection may include either numerous shaped members on complementary surfaces to form a frictional fit, including a permanent snap-fit, or complementary trapezoidal shapes so that a protrusion, or detent, on the decorative attachment may be slid or pressed into the chamber for either a removable or permanent locking arrangement.
