Abstract: A method for determining behavior of an animatronics unit includes receiving animation data comprising artistically determined motions for at least a portion of an animated character, determining a plurality of control signals to be applied to at least the portion of the animatronics unit in response to the animation data, estimating the behavior of at least the portion of the animatronics unit in response to the plurality of control signals by driving a software simulation of at least the portion of the animatronics unit with the plurality of control signals, and outputting a representation of the behavior of at least the portion of the animatronics unit to a user.
Abstract: Network traffic is monitored and an optimal framing heuristic is automatically determined and applied. Framing heuristics specify different rules for framing network traffic. While a framing heuristic is applied to the network traffic, alternative framing heuristics are speculatively evaluated for the network traffic. The results of these evaluations are used to rank the framing heuristics. The framing heuristic with the best rank is selected for framing subsequent network traffic. Each client/server traffic flow may have a separate framing heuristic. The framing heuristics may be deterministic based on byte count and/or time or based on traffic characteristics that indicate a plausible point for framing to occur.
Abstract: A multilayer hose cover for a hose, such as a high-pressure hose, is disclosed. In some embodiments, the hose cover comprises at least three layers that are interwoven together using weft yarn. In these embodiments, the hose cover includes an outer sheath, a middle sheath, and an inner sheath interwoven together by weft yarn in such a way that the layers reinforce one another and are configured to contain the energy associated with a hose burst.
Abstract: The present invention provides hydrophobic prodrugs of bases, nucleosides, and nucleotides as well as methods of using the prodrugs as antiviral and anti-cancer chemotherapeutic agents.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described for better assessing risk associated with cashing second-party checks and other negotiable instruments. The systems and methods make use of information about authenticating marks, such as watermarks, bar codes, insignia, background patterns, and the like, from a check in order to better assess the legitimacy and cashability of the check. In various embodiments, information about an authenticating mark may be compared to stored information about an expected configuration for the authenticating mark. In various embodiments, a gradated risk score may be generated based at least in part on the comparison. In various embodiments, the risk score may be combined with risk scores that are descriptive of other aspects of a check cashing transaction to calculate a risk score for the transaction as a whole. In some embodiments, the transaction risk score may be used to generate an accept/decline recommendation for the transaction.

Abstract: A seat (14), particularly but not exclusively for a wheelchair, comprises a bottom rest (13, 60), a back rest support (18) rotatable relative to the bottom rest about an axis of rotation (100); and a back rest (22) slidably mounted on the back rest support and moveable therealong to vary its position relative to the bottom rest. The back rest is kinematically linked to the bottom rest such that the back rest moves nearer to the axis of rotation as the angle between the back rest support and the bottom rest increases.

Abstract: A method of redeeming cash from a stored-value instrument is disclosed. The method may, at a point-of-sale (“POS”) device associated with a money transfer network, receive an identifier associated with the stored-value instrument and transmit a request to redeem cash associated with the stored-value instrument to an instrument authority system. The instrument authority system may have a database of identifiers, values associated with the identifiers and merchants associated with the identifiers. The method may further receive a response at the POS device from the instrument authority system. Based at least in part on the response, the method may determine whether to dispense cash.
