Abstract: An absorbent article is provided with inversely related basis weight and density gradients for absorbing and retaining body liquids. A central target area of the absorbent article has an average higher basis weight and a lower average density than end areas. Superabsorbent material is selectively disposed within the article.
Abstract: Low basis weight nonwoven fibrous web, which can be incorporated into personal care articles, has an ink printed thereon and has an average wet crockfastness value of at least about 4 or greater. A method is provided for making the ink-printed web.

Abstract: A visco-elastic or soft weight is disclosed, made from a core comprising a particulate weight-adding agent substantially homogeneously dispersed within a visco-elastic material and a cover surrounding the core.A novel weighted visco-elastic composition comprises a visco-elastic material comprising 77-97% plasticizer, 3-15% resin, 0-2% thixotropic thickening agent, 0-2% stabilizer, 0-2% stabilizer enhancer, and 0-2% surfactant and a particulate weight-adding agent in a ratio of weight-adding agent to visco-elastic material of between 1:10 and 2:1.
Abstract: An apparatus including a revolving roll for applying to a sheet of a first material continuously moving in a first direction at least one discrete length of a second material with the length of the discrete length at an angle to the first direction. The discrete length is cut from a continuous ribbon on the revolving roll, rotated by the revolving roll to a desired orientation and transferred from the revolving roll to the sheet. The apparatus includes the revolving roll, at least one rotatable platen on, and revolvable with the revolvable roll, a feeding apparatus for feeding the continuous ribbon to circumferential engagement with the revolving roll, a cutting roll and an applicator roll revolving in synchronizm with the revolving roll. The cutting roll has at least one cutting blade which cuts the ribbon at a cutting surface or anvil on the rotatable platen.
Abstract: Synchronous conveying belts are formed by modifying teeth grooves of a molding gear used in a molding device employing the gear. A groove plate is configured to fixedly mount in a bottom land of selected teeth of the molding gear for reducing the depth of the selected teeth of the belt to be molded. Sleeves for fixedly attaching the groove plate to the bottom land serve as molding post for forming passageways in the modified teeth extending from a backing of the belt to a top land of the modified teeth. Upon forming the reinforced elastomeric belt using the modified molding gear, transporting devices can be fastened to the backing of the belt using attachment fixtures.
