  • Patent number: 4986320
Abstract: A drop tube employed in the discharge of fuel into a storage tank of the type having an inlet, riser pipe is described. The drop tube a tubular member and an overfill valve. The overfill valve comprises a valve member having open and closed positions which is controlled by a float mounted thereon. The drop tube is insertable through the riser pipe to a position wherein the float displaces the valve member towards its closed position when the fuel in the tank reaches a desired level. A depression in the tubular member receives the float to facilitate insertion of the drop tube through the riser pipe. The valve member is freely pivotal from its open position to its closed position, being displaced thereto by the force of fuel discharged into the tank. A pressure relief valve is provided to reduce the forces on the valve. A bleed valve is also provided for bleeding fuel from above the valve when it is in its closed position.

  • Patent number: 4951168
Abstract: A 60 VA transformer is described. A recycling circuit breaker mounted on and connected in series with the secondary winding of the transformer preserves the integrity of the transformer and permits its continued use after a short circuit. A thermal fuse mounted on and connected in series with the primary winding provides short circuit protection in the event the circuit breaker fails in a closed position. Achievement of this end is attained by decoupling the transformer windings to reduce short circuit, secondary current flow. Decoupling is provided by spacing the transformer windings a distance of about 0.090 in. A controlled failure mode provides energy limiting protection for the secondary load circuit in the event of circuit breaker failure in the closed position. Controlled failure is provided by the use of secondary insulation which melts within one minute of a short circuit, permitting turns of the secondary winding to short and reduce current flow to eight amp. within the one minute period.

  • Patent number: 4948094
Abstract: An outlet valve comprising a unitary housing is described. An inlet end of the housing has a flange for attachment of the valve to the discharge conduit of a tote tank, and an outlet end of the housing has a flange for attachment of a dry disconnect coupler for delivery of product from the tank. A bridge member provides a sliding journal for the stem of a poppet assembly which is held in a closed position by a spring acting against the bridge. The bridge and poppet assembly can be removed for cleaning by removal of a snap ring which holds the bridge member in place in a bore in the housing. Cleaning is further facilitated by the opening of the groove into the bore being relatively wide. Clearance for mounting the dry disconnect coupler to the outlet end of the housing is provided by angling the inlet end of the housing relative to the remainder of the valve.

  • Patent number: 4912878
Abstract: A mounting assembly is provided for a jail cell door. The door is suspended from a trolley and is slidable, on a fixed rail, between fully open and closed positions. Means are provided for releasably locking the door in either of those positions. Stop means at opposite ends of the rail respectively limit movement of the trolley to the closed and fully open positions. Each stop means includes a compression spring which absorbs shock forces when the door is displaced to its extreme positions. • Patent number: 4872284
Abstract: A security system for detention cells is described. Known means are provided or lock to unlock the doors of all cells in a cell block. In combination with these means the present invention provides improved means for selectively unlocking the doors for individual cells in the cell block by either an electrical or a manual, "key" mode of operation. In all modes of operation the cell doors are locked when drop bars are in their lower positions and unlocked when the drop bars are raised to an elevated position. The selective unlocking means are characterized by latching means which prevent the drop bars from being raised. In the electrical mode, a motor driven cam disables the lever and raises the latching means and raises a given drop bar. In the "key" mode manually actuated means disable the latch means and raise the drop bar of a selected cell. The selective unlocking means are disclosed in combination with both sliding and pivotally mounted cell doors.
