  • Patent number: 8128962
Abstract: Liquid medicaments incorporate about 1.0-3.0% active benzoyl peroxide (BP) by weight in substantially fully solubilized form, while being substantially free of acetone and other harsh, dermatologically undesirable solvents. The novel compositions are produced by (a) creating an emulsion or slurry of BP in an emollient, topically acceptable ester, and (b) dissolving the emulsion or slurry in absolute alcohol. The medicaments may be used in the treatment of BP-responsive skin conditions in mammals, e.g., acne vulgaris or rosacea. The novel medicaments may be dispensed directly to the affected skin area through the use of an applicator device comprising a fluid reservoir associated with a foam applicator tip, or via a spray dispenser, atomizer or pump spray.

  • Patent number: 8123067
Abstract: The invention provides a set of cooking pans which nest completely one within the other, optionally together with their lids. Each pan of the set comprises a pan body ad a side handle, and the pan bodies are of progressively smaller diameter so that each pan body can be completely received within the next larger pan body for storage purposes, and each pan handle from the largest pan to at least the second smallest pan in the set is concave, creating along the top of that handle a longitudinal recess, each longitudinal recess communicating with a concavity in the top rim of the associated pan body so that when the body of a pan of smaller size is received in the pan body, the handle of the smaller pan extends through that concavity and is received wholly within the longitudinal recess in the handle of that next larger pan.

  • Patent number: 8118448
Abstract: A reflector component is provided for a light emitting diode (LED) lamp that includes a plurality of spaced-apart LED light sources. The reflector component includes a bottom wall having two side edges extending along a longitudinal direction. The bottom wall is formed with a plurality of spaced-apart through holes, each of which permits a respective one of the LED light sources to extend therethrough. The reflector component further includes two side walls extending respectively and upwardly from and along the two side edges of the bottom wall. Each of the side walls has a reflecting surface that faces toward the other of the side walls and that extends upwardly and inclinedly relative to the bottom wall such that a distance between the reflecting surfaces increases in a direction away from the bottom wall.

  • Patent number: 8051584
Abstract: A shoe outsole has a heel post extending outwardly therefrom. An outer heel cover has a hole for receiving the heel post in an assembled position. The heel post thus acts as a convenient positioning guide for the heel cover. A plurality of fluid-filled heel cushioning members at least partly surrounds the heel post between the outsole and the cover in the assembled position, for cushioning heel impacts during use of the footwear. A plurality of dividers on the outsole extend radially of the heel post, and position each cushioning member between a pair of the dividers. The dividers thus act as convenient positioning guides for the cushioning members. The cushioning members have different resistances to compression for adjustably cushioning heel impacts during use of the footwear.

  • Patent number: 8052135
Abstract: While a book block (P) is nipped between a pair of clamping plates (1a, 1b) and passes through processing units (B to D) in succession, perfect book bind processing is carried out. Two or more of the processing units (B to D) have pairs of members (2b, 2c; 3c, 3d; 4a, 4b) which engage or come into contact with both sides of a back surface of the book block A thickness of the book block is measured by a measuring unit (6) before the book binding processing is started. When a thickness of next book block is measured by a measuring unit during the book bind processing of a previous book block, a control section (7) stores a measured value of the thickness of the next book block in a memory (8). When the previous book block reaches a predetermined position on a conveying path, a gap between the pair of members of the processing unit located upstream of a position of the previous book block is adjusted based on the measured value stored in the memory.
