    Abstract: An apparatus used for the paper clip making machine downstream of the cutting machine comprises, a set of conveyors including continuous belt continuous chains, transferring wheels for advancing the cut wires, pieces of magnet properly located on the conveyors for attracting and arraying the cut wire in a proper orientation, three annular members spaced apart and mounted for rotation on the same axis, each of the annular members having a plurality of forming die member on the rim thereof for receiving and engaging cut wires, three segmented ring members of different lengths provided along the circumferences of corresponding annular members, ramming means provided at two sides of the annular member assembly adapted to exert bending forces on cut wires in the direction parallel to the axis of the annular member, the die members intermittently rising from the rim of the annular member to cooperate with the ramming means to bend the cut wires about the segmented ring members.

    Abstract: A closure arrangement for stoppering bottles with pressurized, carbonated, water-based liquid contents which comprises in combination; a bottle having a body portion, an elongated neck portion with two annular flanges thereon, and a mouth portion; and a one-piece elastomeric plastic molded corking means having an elongated cylindrical stopper insertable into the mouth of the bottle, a head connected to the stopper, an annular, circumferential ring positioned below the head, concentric with the stopper and capable of being received between the two annular flanges, a flexible, elongated folded tether connecting the ring to the head, and a plurality of short frangible bridges connecting the ring to the head, said bridges breaking when the ring is forced between the two flanges. The elongated tether provides a means for preventing injury when the cork is removed from the bottle.

    Abstract: A ring-like adjustment member having a plurality of adjustable elements is mounted in a tooth-encircling relationship with a prepared tooth having a finish line. Each element is adjustably movable so that its leading edges may be moved toward an attachment line defined by the neck of the tooth and its immediately adjacent gingival tissue below the visible gum line. The leading edges, after adjustment, define an impression line whose contour resembles the contour of the finish and/or attachment lines. Accurate custom-made impressions of the prepared tooth may be obtained. The adjustment member may also be mounted on the prepared tooth to assist in the formation of a temporary crown, and may further be mounted as a readily removable matrix on a tooth requiring filling.

    Abstract: A detachable luggage-supporting, ground-engaging convertible accessory unit comprises a base member and at least one slide member which is guided for sliding movement on the base member. The base member is secured to a piece of luggage. A caster roller device is mounted on one slide member to form a caster roller assembly. A runner skid is connected to another slide member to form a skid-type runner assembly. A cantilever leaf spring on the base member snappingly engages each slide member for interconnecting the base member and the respective slide member with snap-type action. An access opening is formed on each slide member to expose the spring to permit a disassembly tool to remove the slide member from the base member, to thereby effect the rapid interchange of one caster roller assembly for another, or for the skid-type runner assembly. The slide member covers the spring except at the access opening so that the members are not readily detachable during luggage transport.

    Abstract: A chair shell of resilient material such as polypropylene comprises a back support 12 and a seat portion 14. The natural deformability of the back support 12 is modified by slits 22, 24 and holes 32, 34, 36 so that under pressure from the back of a sitter resting against the back support the support is resiliently deformed into a shape which, in vertical section, includes a convex curve positioned properly to support the sitter's spine in the lumbar region and which is horizontal in convex section. The deformability of seat 14 can be modified by slits 42, 44 and holes 42, 46, 48, 50, 54 to provide softer rear and front zones 44 and 52 to reduce the pressure on the ischial tuberosities and lower thighs of the sitter. The chair shell provides comfortable and orthopaedically desirable support while avoiding the need for thick upholstery. The undeformed state of the chair shell may be designed to allow the chairs to be easily stacked.

The requirement for a physical connection between receiver and transmitter to synchronize the receiver with the flashing beam is thereby avoided.

The coating-forming reaction is caused to take place in said space by generating energy in the space, in the form of a plasma, or a laser beam, and/or heat, and/or gas combustion, whereby the coating is formed simultaneously on the whole heated length of the substrate tube.

    Abstract: A novel paint-by-numbers kit containing a panel board with a non-porous paper mounted thereon. The paper contains thereon a plurality of different unpainted picture areas and a plurality of different water-insoluble portions together constituting an unpainted picture to be painted by a user. Also contained in the kit is a plurality of different water-based paints for coloring the unpainted picture areas. The paints form a layer of transparent color on the non-porous paper of the panel board. Each unpainted picture area is associated with a water-soluble indicia number for indicating to the user which of the different paints to apply to each unpainted picture area. Each different paint is separately identified by a selector number which corresponds to an appropriate indicia number. In using the paint-by-numbers kit, the user wets a paint brush which is supplied with the kit and rubs the wetted paint brush on the paints.

    Abstract: A kitchen appliance for producing pasta or dough products, such as spaghetti, noodles, macaroni and similar cross-sectionally solid or tubular products, or sheets of farinaceous material includes an air blower which directs a stream of air against the respective products as they emerge from the respective orifices of an extrusion die, so that at least the surfaces of such products are dried and their original tackiness is removed, with the result that such products cannot adhere to one another any longer even if they are wetter at the moment of leaving the extrusion orifices than heretofore customary. The air blower is mounted in rotatable relationship with the output shaft of the motor, which powers the mixing and extruding screw accommodated in the housing of the appliance, for rotation thereof relative to the output shaft, and a step-up transmission is provided which rotates the blower at an angular speed considerably exceeding that of the output shaft.

    Abstract: A surgical implant for the fixation of bone portions and methods for using the same to reduce bone fractures with or without the use of bone fixating plates and in a variety of surgical procedures where rigid fixation of bones or bone portions even under great stress is required. The implant has a generally frusto-conical head with a plurality of arms hingeably connected thereto, the arms capable of moving from a retracted position to and extended position. A rectilinear bore having a diameter slightly greater than the greatest effective transverse dimension of the implant device with the arms in the retracted position is drilled through the bone portions to be fixated. A guiding tube or shaft is provided to guide the head of the implant device with the connected arms in retracted position into the bore.

    Abstract: A key operated lock comprises, a lock body; a retractable lock bar with a bevel head, operable by an external pressure, disposed in the body; two locking plates abutted one another in the body and biassed by two separate springs parallelly and opposite to one another, each of the locking plates having an opening adjacent to one another, the openings jointly forming a throughhole for gripping the bevel head to place the lock in its locking position. The throughhole which is in its releasing position is a full circular shape that can allow the bevel head to pass therethrough and is of the shape formed of two dislocated semicircles in its gripping position. The release means for the retractable lock bar includes two cam members which will move, by key operation, the locking plates against the biassing action of the springs to make the throughhole vary to its releasing position so that the lock bar will be released.

In addition, the new nail polish contains organic volatile solvents and is essentially water free. It also may contain other additives commonly employed in nail polishes such as polyamide resins, thickeners, pearlescents, pigments, U.V. absorbers and fragrances.
