Abstract: Circuitry is provided for testing telephone lines, the circuitry comprising a loop current ring trip detector and a relay which in operation is used to break normal current to provide an end of call indication, and wherein said relay is also operative in one test mode to switch from said loop current ring detector to a comparator which functions as a test mode detector. The means may also include a second relay which when the circuit is in a second test mode is operated simultaneously with the first relay, the second relay being connected to a bell capacitor the discharge rate of which can be measured by said capacitor, and the comparator output is sequentially monitored to provide information as to the condition of the insulation and regarding bell capacitor and terminal connection.

Abstract: A single cavity gas oven and grill unit provided with an oven burner (14) and an independent grill burner (15). A flue (12) has a flap (16) pivotable between a closed position for the oven mode and an open position for the griling mode. The flap (16) is connected by a first linkage to a selector (13) and by a second linkage to a dual gas tap. For the oven mode the selector (13) closes the flap which in turn prevents the gas tap operating the grill. When the grill is on, the gas tap holds the flap open which in turn holds the selector in a position to prevent the oven door being closed.

Abstract: In a video signal coder/decoder arrangement or codec for an image transmission system motion of picture elements between frames is encoded with reference to any one of eight preceding frames, so that picture information which repeats within eight frames does not need to be encoded again, and recovery after errors in transmission can commence with reference to the last-received uncorrupted frame of the eight.

Abstract: Benzoyoxyacetic acid derivatives of formula (I) ##STR1## wherein M denotes hydrogen or one equivalent of a pharmaceutically acceptable inorganic or organic cation are useful as analgesics and anti-inflammatory agents. A novel process for their preparation is also disclosed along with novel intermediates.
