  • Patent number: 6162581
Abstract: Charged-particle-beam pattern-transfer methods and apparatus are disclosed. Circuit patterns on a mask are divided into a plurality of fields, each field including respective connection ends. Fields that are to be adjacent as transferred to a substrate include a common portion of the circuit pattern in their respective connection ends. The common portions are projected onto the substrate to substantially overlap. The connection ends are illuminated by an image of a shaping aperture image that is illuminated with a charged-particle beam. The shaping-aperture image can be scanned across the fields so that wafer areas corresponding to the connection ends are exposed during exposure of the connecting adjacent fields and so that the dose received by the wafer is substantially uniform. The shaping-aperture image can be vibrated in a direction perpendicular to a scanning direction to illuminate connection ends. The vibration provides uniform dose on the wafer in areas corresponding to the connection ends.

  • Patent number: 6066786
Abstract: Glyphosate tolerant fescue (Festuca sp.) grasses are provided. These grasses are particularly suitable for use in lawns, golf courses and other turfs where weeds are a problem. Weed control in areas planted with the disclosed grasses can be achieved by direct application of glyphosate herbicides.

  • Patent number: 5959778
Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed that provides a high-luminance projected image with no color shading or uneven contrast. Light from a light source undergoes color separation by passing through a color-separation optical system (e.g., a cross-dichroic mirror or cross-dichroic prism). The light from the light source can also be split into first and second polarized lights by passage through, e.g., a first polarized-light beamsplitter (PBS). Each color-separated light is modulated by a respective color-signal light valve and undergoes color combining by, e.g., a cross-dichroic prism. The second polarized light, if formed, is modulated by a luminance-signal light valve, undergoes color combining and polarized-light combining by, e.g., a second PBS, and is projected by a projection lens (that comprises an aperture stop). The PBSs, cross-dichroic mirrors, and cross-dichroic prisms are situated where principal rays (defined by the aperture stop) are parallel to the optical axis.

  • Patent number: 5954602
Abstract: An end plug for a tubular bat includes a rigid plug member that forms the closure of the barrel portion of the bat. The plug member has radial supports formed thereon. The end plug further includes a rigid reinforcing member that cooperatively interconnects with the plug member to reinforce the supports formed thereon. A resilient member supports the plug member and the reinforcing member within the barrel portion of the bat. A method of forming and installing an end plug includes interconnecting a plug member and a reinforcing member such that the reinforcing member reinforces supports formed on the plug member. The plug member and the reinforcing member are then positioned within the opening of the barrel portion so that the plug member forms a closure of the barrel portion. Liquid material is poured into the handle end of the bat and allowed to drain through the frame of the bat until it rests on the plug member. The liquid material then solidifies to form a support member.

  • Patent number: 5907538
Abstract: A full duplex communication circuit uses a transducer as both a microphone and speaker/earphone to provide full duplex communication without acoustical feedback. The circuit uses a novel amplifier configuration to apply a signal received from a remote source to the transducer without loading it. The output of the transducer has a combined transmit and receive signal. To eliminate feedback of the receive signal in the output of the transmit signal, an audio processing circuit (analog) takes this combined signal and simultaneously compresses the receive signal and expands the transmit signal to produce a transmit signal that is 35-40 dB greater than the receive signal at the output.
