Abstract: Outside combustion air is directed through a conduit into a special manifold positioned on the hearth of an existing fireplace. The manifold extends laterally across the fireplace opening and is positioned to block passage of inside room air through plural air supply slots in a door framework which lead to the firebox of the fireplace. In one form, a channel member secures the upper portion of the manifold to the door framework. In another form, plural mounting brackets attach the manifold to the framework such that the weight of the manifold causes a seal carried by the manifold to bear against the framework and substantially seal the space between the manifold and framework.
Abstract: A hydraulic gun includes a gun body within which a trigger operated valve and a second, pressure operated valve are supplied with water under pressure from a pump. The trigger operated valve is normally open and returns water at a comparatively low pressure to a water reservoir, but when the trigger operated valve is closed, the water pressure opens the second valve, through which water is delivered to a nozzle.
Abstract: A cart bolted to a short bottom section of a ladder carries a winch. A cable on the winch runs over a pulley on a short top section of the ladder and is connected to a carriage having wheels running in channel-like side members of the ladder. The carriage has an adjustable, folding platform and a back which pivots to a horizontal position when the carriage reaches the top of the ladder. A bottom pushbutton control and a top pushbutton control are provided.
Abstract: A hatch cover for closing and sealing a hatch opening has radial latching arms connected at their inner ends to a rotatable arm-actuating hub on the bottom side of the cover at ball-and-socket connections and loosely connected to the cover near their outer ends. In one rotational position of the hub the arms overlap and apply clamping pressure to the rim of the hatch opening and in a second rotational position of the hub the arm-clamping pressure is released and the arms are retracted from the rim to enable removal of the cover from the opening. The hub rides on camming surfaces of the cover which are shaped so that as the hub rotates in a hatch-closing direction, the arms first extend over the rim of the opening and then pivot into clamping engagement with the rim about their loose connections to the cover, urging the cover through such connections into tight seated engagement with the rim.
