  • Patent number: 8347595
Abstract: A system for removing particles from an air stream includes a housing having an air stream inlet at a first end thereof and an air steam exhaust at a second end thereof. The housing defines a flow path between the air stream inlet and the air stream exhaust. At least one liquid introduction jet disposed between the air stream inlet and the air stream exhaust injects liquid droplets into the air stream. A scrubber disposed between the at least one liquid introduction jets and the air stream exhaust for removes smaller particles from the air stream.

  • Patent number: 8333333
Abstract: A dust-control apparatus may be used in combination with tilling, cultivating, harvesting, construction machinery, and other mobile soil treatment implements. The apparatus applies mist to dust particles where the mist is created by pumping water or other liquid through nozzles. Because the apparatus is used in combination with the operation of the dust-generating machinery, the dust suppressing mist is applied nearly simultaneously to the generation of the dust by the agitation of the soil by the machinery. In one embodiment of the device, the operation of the pump or valves which control liquid flow to the nozzles is automatically activated by a optical sensor. The optical sensors cause either the starting of a pump or opening of a valve thereby increasing or decreasing the pressure and/or volume of the liquid upon the dust level reaching a preset trigger point as detected by the sensor.

  • Patent number: 8191346
Abstract: A mobile harvesting unit which utilizes a high volume fan to separate crops from foreign matter, has a dust suppression system which substantially reduces particulates which are discharged with the fan exhaust. The dust suppression system has two stages. The first stage separates larger particles of foreign matter by deploying an air stream cleaning chain upstream of the fan. The second stage is contained within a air stream discharge duct. Within the air stream discharge duct, a liquid, such as water, is sprayed into the dust entrained air stream. The moistened air stream flows through a plurality of collection members which extend radially from a brush drum, where the moistened dust particles are accumulated on the collection members, such that the volume of dust particles contained within the air discharged from the harvesting unit is substantially reduced.

  • Patent number: 8113551
Abstract: A latch and keeper combination is utilized for securing a radome to an aircraft fuselage. The keeper has a keeper housing and an eyebolt member which extends toward the latch from the keeper housing. The latch has a pivoting handle member pivotally attached to a latch housing. A hook member depends from the handle member. Once the hook member is generally placed about the eye bolt, depressing the handle member further causes the hook to rotate within the latch housing. As the handle member is completely depressed, the hook member fully engages the eye bolt, while at the same time members axially extend from the latch to engage the keeper which provides a resistance to shear between the latch and keeper. The apparatus may also have a safety which prevents the handle from fully closing until the eye bolt is fully engaged by the hook member, thereby providing visual confirmation that the latch has completely engaged the keeper.

  • Patent number: 8104960
Abstract: A portable and sealable waste disposal receptacle receives human waste material through an opening in an outer chamber. The waste passes through an inner chamber, which is suspended within the outer chamber, and passes through a one-way valve located at the bottom of the inner chamber into a lower chamber portion of the outer chamber. The one-way valve is fashioned from the bottom edges of the inner chamber, where a biasing strip is mounted in compression along one of the bottom edges, which causes the bottom edges of the inner chamber to be biased closed in sealing contact except when waste enters the inner chamber, the weight of which is sufficient to overcome the closing bias of the biasing strip, allowing the waste to flow into the lower chamber. Once the waste has cleared the inner chamber, the biasing member causes the bottom edges to come together in sealing contact, preventing the flow of waste back through the inner chamber.

  • Patent number: 8052360
Abstract: A self-aligning tap is used to produce correctly aligned new threads in an existing smooth bore hole. The design of the tap's shank, flutes, and cutting surfaces is that of commonly used existing taps. The flat end of the tap—the end that enters the existing bore hole—contains a threaded bore. A removable pilot that aligns the tap to the axis of the existing bore consists of a cylindrical body with a diameter slightly smaller than the existing bore hole, and a length no greater than the diameter of the major diameter of the tap. The upper end of the cylindrical pilot—the end that shoulders against the tap—comprises a threaded stem whose thread pitch matches that of the tap end's bore, and whose length is slightly less than the tap end bore's depth.
