Abstract: A plastic container that particularly adapted for hot-fill applications includes a bottom portion; and a sidewall portion that is unitary with the bottom portion. The sidewall portion has a maximum outer diameter, and includes first and second pairs of opposing first and second vacuum panels, respectively. At least one of the second vacuum panels includes gripping structure. The first and second vacuum panels respectively have first and second substantially constant radii of curvature as measured in a horizontal plane that are substantially constant from upper to lower ends of the vacuum panels. At least one of the second vacuum panels may be asymmetric about a central vertical axis as viewed in side elevation.

Abstract: A piezoelectric energy harvesting device (PEHD) comprising a driving element, conducting element, piezoelectric layer and non-piezoelectric layer capable of converting ambient mechanical energy into electrical energy. The piezoelectric layer may be constructed from PMN-PT or PZT having a thickness of about 1-150 ?m. The PEHD may be used to generate about 1 W. The harvested energy may be stored and used to power microelectronic devices and rechargeable battery technologies.

Abstract: This invention is directed to a durable, compact, two-piece, light weight, load sustaining litter system for the transport of humans, animals or objects. The litter system comprises a litter frame, a fabric disposed between the structure of the frame, at least one hinge and at least one coupling mechanism. The litter system may be quickly assembled under adverse conditions and may be particularly beneficial in transporting individuals who are injured, disabled and/or incapable of movement under combat and/or emergency conditions.

Abstract: There are provided a first process T1 in which a mold clamping motor 4 is driven-controlled so as to move a cross head 5h of a toggle link mechanism 5 to a preliminary position Xr set in advance so as to become a position on the mold open side rather than a mold closure position Xs; a second process T2 in which after the first process T1 is finished, a mold thickness adjusting motor 2 is driven-controlled so as to move a pressure receiving platen 3 forward to a mold closed position Xc where a mold C is closed; a third process T3 in which after the second process T2 is finished, the mold clamping motor 4 is driven-controlled so as to move the cross head 5h forward, while the mold C is pressurized by torque limitation of the mold clamping motor 4, and the mold thickness adjusting motor 2 is driven-controlled so as to move the pressure receiving platen 3, while the cross head 5h is moved to the mold closure position Xs; and a fourth process T4 in which, after the third process T3 is finished, a clamping margin L
Abstract: A hydraulic system that can implement effective practical use of energy is provided. A hydraulic system according to the present invention has a hydraulic pump driven by a hydraulic pump motor, a loading cylinder and a power steering cylinder which are driven by pressure oil supplied from the hydraulic pump, and power supply means for supplying power to the hydraulic pump motor. The power supply means comprises a stack of a fuel cell, a fuel supply passage for supplying hydrogen gas to the stack, fuel circulating passages in which a hydrogen pump for joining unreacted hydrogen gas discharged from the stack into the fuel supply passage to circulate hydrogen gas is disposed, and a regenerator which is driven by pressure oil to generate rotational force. The hydrogen pump is rotationally driven by the regenerator.
Abstract: A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes a data acquisition unit and an image data generating unit. The data acquisition unit acquires MR signals for imaging by an imaging scan with a frequency-selective or slice-selective radio frequency intermediate pulse for controlling a contrast and a spoiler gradient magnetic field for suppressing unnecessary signal component after applying al least one of radio frequency excitation pulses. The image data generating unit generates image data based on the magnetic resonance signals.

Abstract: A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus includes a sensitivity map data generating unit and a sensitivity corrected image data generating unit. The sensitivity map data generating unit generates reference image data based on data for generating sensitivity map data of a phased array coil and generates the sensitivity map data by using reference image data after correction processing obtained by applying the correction processing to improve a uniformity with the reference image data based on the reference image data and phased array coil data for generating the sensitivity map data. The sensitivity corrected image data generating unit acquires image data for imaging with the phased array coil and performs sensitivity correction of the image data using the sensitivity map data.

Abstract: A container adapted to increase volume contraction and reduce pressure having four panels that are adapted to contract inwardly from vacuum forces created by contraction of container contents. The container has a sidewall including four panels. The four panels are vacuum panels, including vertical transitional walls disposed between and joining the panels and the body is adapted to increase volume contraction and reduce pressure. The panels are adapted to contract inwardly in response to internal negative pressure created during hot-fill processing and subsequent cooling of a hot liquid in the container.

Abstract: A method for effecting reduction, stabilization and enhancement of fusion of the human cranio-cervical junction, which may be performed in order to relieve mechanical stresses imparted to the spinal cord and brainstem as a result of an abnormal clivo-axial angle, includes steps of achieving the correct craniocervical relationship, of effecting a fusion of a first portion of a bone forming material based structural member to a human cranium, and effecting fusion of a second portion of the bone forming material based structural member to a least one portion of a human cervical spine. Fusion of the bone forming material based structural member to the human cranium may be promoted through the use of plate member that is shaped to define a graft accommodation space between the plate member and the cranium.
