Abstract: A folding knife having a blade pivotally connected to an end of a handle so that the blade is rotatable about a pivot axis between an open position and a closed position. In the open position, the blade is extended away from the handle. In the closed position, the blade is at least partially received within the handle. The knife also has a locking mechanism that is movably secured to the handle so that it may be moved into a locking position. When in the locking position, the locking mechanism blocks a protruding member extending transversely outward from a surface of the blade to prevent the blade from being rotated from the open position to the closed position.
