  • Patent number: 5984246
Abstract: A glue gun stand including a basin formed therein, a pedestal extending upwardly from the base adjacent the basin, and two narrow channels extending substantially downwardly into the pedestal. Each narrow channel provides bilateral restraint for legs of a glue gun, and the basin catches drips that may drop from a glue gun held in the stand. Two glue guns of different sizes may be held by the glue gun stand.

  • Patent number: 5709255
Abstract: A rotary chipping head with multiple knife structures distributed about its periphery. Each knife structure includes an end-located chipping knife with a cutting edge movable in a plane disposed perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the chipping head. End-located facing knives are interspersed with the knife structures for producing a smooth face in the work being processed. Anvils preceding the facing knives produce compression in the work being processed. Detachable facing elements mount the facing knives and the anvils.

  • Patent number: 5201487
Abstract: An adaptor system for mounting a gutter mount-type accessory on a rail mount-type vehicle's rooftop is disclosed. The system includes plural adaptor assemblies each including an extruded bracket member having a planar bottom surface for mating the upper surface of a mounting rail, and an edge region including first and opposing shoulder regions for secure gripping by a depending strut member and a hooked member that form a part of a gripping means in a rooftop accessory or accessory carrier. Preferably the first shoulder region has a first recess extending a predefined distance along and in parallel with the edge region, with the first recess being dimensioned to receive partly therein the depending strut. The second shoulder region preferably is defined as an upper surface of a second recess extending along and in parallel with the edge region for receiving partly therein a hooked member that forms another part of the gripping means.

  • Patent number: 5124141
Abstract: A diagnostic method for the detection of human malaria infections. Specifically, blood samples are combined with a reagent containing 3-acetyl pyridine adenine dinucleotide (APAD), a substrate (e.g. a lactate salt or lactic acid), and a buffer. The reagent is designed to detect the presence of a unique glycolytic enzyme produced by the malaria parasite. This enzyme is known as parasite lactic acid dehydrogenase (PLDH). PLDH is readily distinguishable from host LDH using the foregoing reagent. Combination of the reagent with a parasitized blood sample results in the reduction of APAD. However, APAD is not reduced by host LDH. The reduced APAD may then be detected by various techniques, including spectral, fluorimetric, electrophoretic, or colorimetric analysis. Detection of the reduced APAD in the foregoing manner provides a positive indication of malaria infection.
