  • Patent number: 5608249
Abstract: An improved storage node junction between a doped active area in a semiconductor substrate and an overlying layer of polysilicon, such as the storage node junction in a DRAM memory cell. The area and perimeter of the storage node junction is significantly reduced and the junction is moved away from the adjacent isolation structure. An exemplary semiconductor device incorporating the new junction includes a storage node junction between a conductive polysilicon layer and an active area on a semiconductor substrate, the substrate having been subjected to LOCOS steps to create active areas bounded by a region of field oxide. An insulated gate electrode is formed over an active area on the substrate, which has been doped to a first conductivity type. A contact region comprising a portion of the active area extends laterally between one side of the gate electrode and the field oxide region.

  • Patent number: 5554107
Abstract: A footwrap comprising a modified tubular body of elastic material wherein the body has an ankle opening and a plurality of toe openings. The ankle opening is positioned to extend from above the heel forward along both sides of the foot just below the ankle to the top of the foot. The toe openings are positioned forward of the ankle opening so that the body envelops the foot between the ankle opening and the toe openings and exerts a predetermined compressive force to support the arch of the foot. The body is adapted to envelope the heel below the ankle opening to form a heel cup, the heel cup being positioned so that a predetermined compressive force is exerted along the bottom of the foot between the heel and the toes.

  • Patent number: 5513437
Abstract: A dovetail tenon offset caliper includes a shoulder engagement member, a interior intersection point engagement member and a translation assembly for displacing the interior intersection point engagement member with respect to the shoulder engagement member to measure the offset necessary to construct a dovetail tenon to fit a particular dovetail mortise. The translation assembly is configured to displace the interior intersection point member with respect to the shoulder engagement member along a line substantially parallel to the mortise base to measure the perpendicular distance between a first plane perpendicular to the displacement line, the first plane containing the reference shoulder, and a second plane, parallel to the first plane and containing the intersection point, this distance being the dovetail tenon offset. The measured offset is used to position a dovetail cutting tool, such as a router bit.

  • Patent number: 5505512
Abstract: A dual composition bed liner (10) is disclosed which includes a unitary side and front wall member (11) formed of a resilient plastic, such as polyethylene, and which has a rubber bed mat (18) integrally attached to the unitary wall member (11). A plurality of "C" shaped retaining tabs (19) are formed along the upper edge of unitary wall member (11) to engage the underside of truck bed rail (24). Each of the left side (11a), right side (11c) and front wall (11b) panels have a lip (13) extending inwardly from their bottom edges. A mat retaining ridge channel (14) is formed in the underside of the lip (13) to receive a retaining ridge (19) formed along the marginal edge of the upper surface of the bed mat (18). A plurality of rivet recesses (15) are provided in the top and bottom of retaining ridge (19) and are positioned to align with similar rivet recesses (15) in the mat ridge channel (14).

  • Patent number: 5497808
Abstract: A line patch for use in repairing ruptures or leaks in fluid-carrying cylindrical pipes. One or more screw clamps, encircling a curved compression sleeve, are used to compress a resilient sealing member against a pipe rupture. For smaller diameter pipe (approximately less than one inch) applications, the compression sleeve has an inner lip which forms an abutment seat for the sealing member, which is an O-ring made of a resilient material such as rubber. In larger diameter pipe (greater than one inch) applications, the compression sleeve is a curved plate of constant thickness designed to approximate the outer curve of the pipe to be repaired, and the sealing member is a sheet of constant thickness resilient material. In the preferred embodiment, the screw clamp is a common hose clamp, the compression sleeves are made of metal, and the sealing members are made of rubber.

  • Patent number: 5488011
Abstract: A method of forming a contact area between two vertical structures. A first layer of material conforming to an extending between vertical sidewalls is covered with a mask layer. The mask layer is patterned and etched to remove the horizontal region of the mask layer between the vertical sidewalls, thereby exposing the first layer of material at the desired location of the contact area, while retaining at least a portion of the vertical regions of the mask layer. Using the remaining vertical regions of the mask layer as etch mask, the exposed portions of the first layer are then etched away to form the contact area. Another aspect of the invention provides a method of making a DRAM that utilizes a capacitor insulating layer over the capacitor second conductor (or cell poly) to self-align the bit line contact to the capacitor second conductor. In accordance with this aspect of the invention, a capacitor is formed over a semiconductor wafer.

  • Patent number: 5460449
Abstract: The invention is an in-line mixer without moving parts, with a generally conical shear head pointed in the upstream direction within a pipe, and centered near the downstream side of an annular seating ring fastened to the inside surface of the pipe. In the upstream, slanted face, or high pressure side of the shear head, there is a series of generally circular ports bored through the shear head. The slanted face of the conical shear head extends through the center of the seating ring in the upstream direction, and is adjusted to be located very close to the downstream side of the seating ring. At the downstream end of the slanted face of the shear head is a first sharp, approximately 90 degree edge leading away from the inside surface of the pipe in the downstream direction, which first edge is adjusted to be located very close to the inside surface of the pipe.
