  • Patent number: 7788911
Abstract: A system, method and computer operable code is disclosed for reducing HC and liquid accumulation in an exhaust gas treatment system. A timer is used to monitor the amount of time the system spends in either absorption mode or desorption mode. If the exhaust gas temperature at the inlet of a oxidation catalyst device is below an absorption threshold, the timer is instructed to count up. If the exhaust gas temperature is above a desorption threshold, the timer is instructed to count down. At a predetermined timer threshold value, the engine is instructed to enter a thermal management mode operable to reduce accumulation of HC and liquid in the exhaust gas management system.

  • Patent number: 7784272
Abstract: An engine exhaust treatment system using a control system is described. In one form of the present invention, engine exhaust gas contaminates are passed through a selective reduction catalyst and a contaminate reducing agent is injected into the catalyst. The amount of contaminates present in the exhaust proximate to the selective reduction catalyst are sensed using at least one sensor. In one embodiment, input signals are sent to a control system from the sensor or sensors and a feedforward control combined with a feedback loop is used to transform these signals and a predetermined catalyst output contaminate value into an output signal. The output signal instructs a provider to inject contaminate reducing agents in a manner to efficiently track the desired predetermined catalyst output contaminate value.

  • Patent number: 7784448
Abstract: An anti-flow interruption system is configured to provide a supply of fuel in the event of a fuel flow interruption from a fuel tank. The anti-flow interruption system includes a reservoir, a reservoir conduit, and a vapor bleed system. The reservoir conduit has an end disposed at the bottom of the reservoir and another connected to a fuel pump. The vapor bleed system includes a vapor bleed conduit and a vapor bleed restrictor. One end of the vapor bleed conduit is attached to the top of the reservoir and the other end is connected to the fuel pump. The vapor bleed restrictor is disposed in the vapor bleed conduit between the fuel pump and the reservoir. If fuel flow is interrupted and results in vapor being present in the reservoir, liquid fuel remaining in the reservoir continues to be supplied to the fuel pump while the vapor bleed system removes the vapor.

  • Patent number: 7781083
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention includes a technique of performing a catalytic oxidation reaction at an anode to provide hydrogen ions from molecular hydrogen and a catalytic reduction reaction at a cathode to provide hydroxyl ions from liquid hydrogen peroxide. Passage of the molecular hydrogen to a reaction region is impeded with a proton exchange membrane and passage of the hydrogen peroxide to the reaction region is impeded with an ion-selective arrangement. Electric potential is generated between the anode and the cathode to provide electric power from a reaction of the hydrogen ions and the hydroxyl ions in the reaction region. In one variation, a regeneration technique is also provided.
