  • Patent number: 6658091
Abstract: A method is disclosed for remote monitoring of a premises, comprising the steps of operatively coupling a geographically remote client to a security system server which is capable of authenticating a user of the remote client, operatively coupling the remote client to a security gateway which is capable of managing the monitoring of the premises, activating a signal at the premises for notifying an occupant at the premises that remote monitoring is occurring, and transferring information between the security gateway and the remote client. The transfer of information between the security gateway and the remote client is controlled by the user of the remote client. The security gateway may be operably coupled to at least one camera at the premises and to at least one audio station At the premises.

  • Patent number: 6629136
Abstract: The present invention is designed to seamlessly deliver localized content to users on a network corresponding to each users' geographic area. In particular, the present invention considers a user's geographic location information (such as an address) in the determination of which geographic areas, if any, correspond to the user, and automatically delivers content associated with those geographic areas. By associating a unique spatial identity with a user, the present invention may use various known digital mapping spatial techniques to provide the user with information relevant to the user's location.

  • Patent number: 6596387
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process of forming a multi-layer pad of a non-woven fiber batt and a foam layer having conforming convoluted surfaces and to a multi-layer pad incorporating a non-woven fiber batt and foam layer. The process of forming a non-woven batt layer and a foam layer having conforming convoluted surfaces comprises transporting each layer along its longitudinal dimension while compressing each layer along its lateral dimension. Concomitantly with compression, each layer is cut tranversely along its lateral dimension to separate each layer into an upper segment and a lower segment and to provide conforming convoluted surfaces on the segments of each layer, the convoluted surfaces comprised of upstanding projections and depressions.

  • Patent number: 6196157
Abstract: The present invention relates to apparatus and methods for providing nestable pet beds which combine a flexible base and sidewall in a design which is readily stackable for compact transport, storage and display. The base and sidewall are cut from foam or other flexible material utilizing straight cuts which can be mass produced. The sidewall is cut along an arc as a unitary piece or as multiple pieces which collectively define an arcuate configuration. Providing an arcuate wall and attaching it in a flat wall to edge relationship with the base achieves a pet bed design with flared walls that can be nested. The relationship between the sidewall and the base causes radial forces to be exerted on the base, creating a concavity and convexity in the base when viewed from its lower and upper surface, respectively. The concavo-convex configuration imparts an aesthetically appealing, fluffy and comfortable appearance to the pet bed.

  • Patent number: 5993309
Abstract: A chimney exhaust system for facilitating or creating an upward draft in a chimney flue, operating on what is referred to as "Bernoulli's Principle" comprises a housing unit having a tubular cross member and a tubular depending member, both members having an inlet and an outlet. The outlet of the depending member intersects the cross member at an intermediate position between the inlet and outlet of the cross member. The depending member is mounted to a chimney flue at its inlet and acts as an extension thereof. A fan is attached to the housing unit proximate the cross member to generate air flow through the cross member and across the opening of the depending member's outlet. The air flow generated through the cross member creates an upward draft of the air in the chimney flue and the depending member.

  • Patent number: 5964189
Abstract: A multi-level cat playhouse and associated methods of assembly, disassembly and storage thereof. The playhouse includes an open-topped lower body portion having plural walls which define an interior space and a partially open-bottomed upper body portion, also having plural walls which, while also defining an interior space, are configured to fit within the lower interior space for storage purposes when the upper body portion is inverted and placed onto the lower body portion. When in use, a first portion of the lower interior space is covered by a removable separator mounted to generally horizontal ledges included as part of the walls of the lower body portion. By placing the upper body portion onto the lower body portion, a remaining portion of the lower interior space is covered by the bottom wall of the upper body while the removable separator provides a floor for the upper interior space.
