  • Patent number: 6687407
Abstract: The application discloses a media processing method that includes accessing a compressed image data set representing a time series of different compressed video images. These video images have been compressed to differing degrees based on sizes of the compressed video images with a plurality of different quantization tables. The compressed image data set can then be decompressed to retrieve the time series of different video images, and this step of decompressing can be operative independent of information indicating a difference between quantization tables used to compress the images.

  • Patent number: 6560476
Abstract: An orthopedic magnetic resonance imaging system is disclosed. This system includes a source of magnetic resonance imaging data sets resulting from successive magnetic resonance imaging acquisitions from a diseased joint of a patient. A segmentation module segments surfaces in the joint based on information contained within at least one of the data sets, and a registration module spatially registers, in three dimensions, information represented by a first of the data sets with respect to information represented by one or more further data sets for the same patient. A comparison module detects differences between information represented by the data sets caused by progression of the disease in the joint of the patient between acquisitions. A cross-patient comparison module can compare detected differences for the patient with detected differences for at least one other patient.

  • Patent number: 6553142
Abstract: The method for adjusting quality during image capture includes computing a discrete cosine transform of a digital image to create DCT coefficients. A quantization table is generated that specifies frequency bands to be filtered and the DCT coefficients are digitized using the quantization table. • Patent number: 6511163
Abstract: A method of jet printing is disclosed in which a jet printing fluid source advances in a helical progression with respect to a drum, and drops from the jet printing fluid source are guided to a substrate in steps that define a swathing order that separates their trajectories. A printing system is also disclosed in which a digital filtering function is applied to a desired input position value to obtain a guiding value for a drop of printing fluid.

  • Patent number: 6314885
Abstract: A deposited ink drop imposition proofing print sheet that includes two deposited ink drop printable faces each having a periphery defined by an ordered series of first, second, third, and fourth edges. These two faces have properties resulting from a deposited ink drop print-enhancing treatment. The sheet defines two first registration openings. The first is located closer to the first sheet edge than to the third sheet edge and closer to the second sheet edge than to the fourth sheet edge. The second is located closer to the first sheet edge than to the third sheet edge and closer to the fourth sheet edge than to the second sheet edge. In one embodiment, an inner edge of the first registration opening is nominally separated from an inner edge of the second registration opening by at least 36 inches.

  • Patent number: 6299160
Abstract: An imposition printer and associated method. The printer can disengage its rollers from a print substrate feed path, deploy a pair of registration stops, and align a print substrate by engaging the print substrate with the stops. The rollers can then engage the substrate in an aligned position, and the registration stops can be retracted. After they are engaged, the same rollers can advance the substrate as a deposited ink drop print head deposits ink on it.

  • Patent number: 6161115
Abstract: A media editing system that includes storage for a machine-readable composition made up of scenes separated by transitions. The system can identify to an effect generator a scene in the composition and receive a modified version back from the effect generator. It can read machine-readable information associated with the modified version, and automatically reinsert the modified version into the machine-readable composition in synchronism with the position in the composition that the scene occupied, based on the machine-readable information. The system can also associate versions of the scene with the scene and display to a user a list of identifiers of the versions in response to user command that references a portion of a timeline, and respond to a selection command from the user to select one of the versions to be a default version for the composition.
