  • Patent number: 6710663
Abstract: A rubidium frequency standard is compensated for frequency variations over temperature by allowing the rubidium frequency standard to vary while holding the output frequency constant. A voltage controlled crystal oscillator, locked to a physics package, provides the output signal. A temperature sensor senses temperature and proves a temperature signal to a microcontroller. A frequency synthesizer receives the output signal from the voltage controlled crystal oscillator as a reference and provides an RF signal to the physics package. The microcontroller looks up a frequency error in a memory in accordance with the temperature signal, generates an offset control word for the frequency synthesizer to compensate for the temperature and adjusts the VCXO with an error signal to compensate for temperature.

  • Patent number: 6697008
Abstract: A distributed electronic warfare system includes a central control site for controlling and receiving data from the system and utilizes a satellite communications system for communications within the system. Electronic warfare pods are attached to variety of aircraft. The electronic warfare pods listen to signals from targets and jam the targets under control of the central control site. The pods supply the data to the central control site. The pods have antennas for radiating jamming signals to the targets and receiving signals from the targets. Transmitters in the pods generate jamming signals and receivers receive the signals from the targets. A signal processor processes the received signals from the targets. The pods may be used for search and collection, geolocation, and electronic attack under control of the central control site.

  • Patent number: 6693653
Abstract: A method of assisting movement of a cursor toward a target on a display screen is disclosed. According to the method, an initial cursor movement is detected. It is determined whether the direction of the initial cursor movement includes a component that is directed toward the target. A movement correction is defined as at least a portion of the component when the cursor is within a predetermined distance from the target. The initial cursor movement is combined with the movement correction to create a total cursor movement. The magnitude of the total cursor movement is adjusted to equal the magnitude of the initial cursor movement. If the cursor is within predetermined distances from multiple targets, a movement correction for each target is defined, and the movement corrections for all targets are combined with the initial cursor movement to create a total cursor movement. The magnitude of the total cursor movement is adjusted to equal the magnitude of the initial cursor movement.

  • Patent number: 6687316
Abstract: Methods of measuring phase angle and decoding a pseudo-random noise (PRN) code by applying High Resolution Correlators, having three or more correlators signals, where at least two signals, or multiples of two, are equally distanced advanced or delayed signals from the PRN signal with the option of one signal substantially in sync with the PRN signal. A phase tracking error is computed when measuring phase angle or adjusting the relative timing difference by adjusting the phase of the locally generated PRN signals when the error signal has a non-zero magnitude, in a manner to drive said error signal to zero when decoding the PRN code.

  • Patent number: 6674576
Abstract: Use of a filter in lieu of a secondary reflector in a reflective telescope provides compact design that eliminates the obstruction caused by the secondary reflector. The filter is selectively reflective to either the angle of incidence of radiation striking the filter or to the polarization exhibited by the radiation. An angularly sensitive filter may be constructed to either a bandpass filter or a short pass filter. A filter that is sensitive to polarization is constructed from a cholesteric liquid crystal. The filter is disposed in front of a primary reflector that comprises an aperture for collecting radiation observed by the telescope.

  • Patent number: 6666896
Abstract: A projection display has a display screen for displaying images formed by image engines illuminated by a high-reliability illumination source. The illumination source contains lamps for illumination of the image engines. Optical components conduct the light from the lamps to the image engines such that when a lamp fails illumination is maintained on the display screen by varying the power to the remaining lamps.
