Abstract: A page of paper or other suitable writing material having parallel long edges and parallel short edges as a first and a second fold which are not parallel to each other but connect the short edges of the page. The page further has a third and fourth fold parallel to the short edges. When the page is folded along the first and second folds, the distance between the first and second folds along the first short edge is greater than the distance between the first and second folds along the second short edge. When thereafter the page is folded along the third and fourth folds, the second short edge can be fitted within the first short edge to configure the page as an envelope.
Abstract: A device for extending across a gutter for separating trash from rain water running off a roof has a planar metal body secured to the roof and to the outer edge of the gutter. A plurality of elongate louvers are cut into the metal body so that they extend parallel to the gutter. The louvers are arranged in columns and are twisted to form openings between which the water will flow.
Abstract: A channel letter has a rear surface for mounting against a raceway, wall, or a structure for supporting the signage, and sides defining the figuration of the letter or shape to be depicted. A lighting element is positioned against the rear surface of the enclosure. To retain the lens to the open front of the enclosure, a shoulder is provided along the inner surface of the sides thereof where the shoulder defines a plane parallel to the outer ends of the sides but is recessed therefrom. A planar transparent lens having an outer edge which is in the shape of the letter and sized to fit within the sides of the enclosure is retained against the shoulder by a suitable retaining means such as screws.
Abstract: A hollow, rubber unitary golf tee is adapted to be placed upon a playing surface, the golf tee comprising a frustoconical portion, a playing surface engaging base, an upper surface and a centrally located ball support associated with the upper surface wherein the playing surface engaging base is greater in diameter than the upper surface.
Abstract: An excavating tool has a tungsten carbide insert which is more wear resistant and not subject to breakage because of bring too brittle. The insert has a semispherical tip, a divergent midsection and a base with a conical rear surface. The insert is made with tungsten carbide particles sized between 1 and 8 microns and averaging between 2 and 5 microns, blended with particles of a binder of which the binder comprises 5.5 to 6.5 percent of the blend by weight, and the insert is sintered to a hardness of 89.5 Ra or more.
Abstract: A hull for a boat comprises a centrally located V-shaped keel a first strake disposed at an outboard edge of a first deadrise adjacent the keel portion, a second strake disposed at an outboard edge of a second deadrise adjacent a first chine rising from the first strake and a third strake disposed at an outboard edge of a third deadrise wherein the third dead rise is joined to the second chine. At least one of the first, second or third chines is a flat chine, at least one of the first, second or third chines is a reverse chine and at least one of the first, second or third chines is a combination chine wherein the combination chine further comprising a pad superimposed upon a reverse chine.
Abstract: An attachment is provided for interchangeably converting a ski simulating machine into a rowing machine, the ski simulating machine having a frame, a pair of skis slidably mounted on the frame to move in forward and rearward directions on the frame and means mounted on the frame for providing resistance to the pair of skis during at least one of forward and rearward movement. The attachment includes a seat mounted for guided sliding movement with respect to the frame, foot support means mounted on the frame for bracing a user's feet when the user is sitting on the seat, and means for coupling the resistance providing means for application to a user's arm movement during a rowing exercise.
Abstract: A tool mounting block for a cutting machine has a forward surface and an aperture in the forward surface for receiving the cylindrical mounting portion of a tool. To extend the useful life of the mounting block, an annular insert is fitted around the aperture such that the forward surface of the insert provides a bearing surface to facilitate rotation of the tool within the mounting block.
Abstract: The housing of a refrigeration expansion valve has a port which is in communication with the pressure feed back chamber of the valve. A pressure gauge may be attached to the port to read the pressure of the refrigerant discharged from the evaporator.
Abstract: A media storage or display assembly is adapted to stand erect and receive multiple media storage cartridges therein. The media storage assembly comprises at least one modular media storage unit having multiple upright members, multiple intermediate shelf units, a lower base and an upper base. Each multiple upright member is releasably secured in a receiving socket in the lower base and additionally releasably secured in a receiving socket in the upper base. The multiple intermediate shelf units are disposed intermediate the upper base and the lower base upon the multiple upright members. Each intermediate shelf unit has multiple keyhole shaped ports disposed therethrough adjacent an outer peripheral rim of the shelf unit, each port adapted for receiving one of the upright members therethrough and having a mechanism for slidably engaging the upright member associated therewith.
Abstract: In a filling system for moving a supply of liquid through an automatic nozzle, a filling adaptor affixed to a fill pipe of the container for receiving the automatic nozzle has a safety closure at a discharge end thereof to reduce spillage of liquid from the container upon tipping of the container.
Abstract: A step knife for use in eye surgery has a blade which extends a predetermined length beyond a footplate. The blade has a sharpened lower edge and each of the sides have a sharpened portion near the lower edge and an unsharpened portion near the footplate.
Abstract: An electronic eye depth testing method comprises a three dimensional cubic space displayed on a display screen, wherein the cubic space has a first image of a three dimensional object and a second image of a three dimensional object randomly placed within the cubic space. The first image is located at the intersection of two perpendicular horizontal planes and a vertical plane perpendicular to said two horizontal planes and the second image is located at the intersection of two perpendicular horizontal planes and a vertical plane perpendicular to said two horizontal planes. A subject to be tested for depth perception is directed to move the images into convergence in the center of the cubic space.
Abstract: An automated fueling nozzle for transferring fuel from a fuel storage tank to a vehicle fuel storage tank has a vacuum sensing arrangement disposed outboard of a discharge end of an outlet spout of the nozzle to interrupt the flow of fuel when the tank is substantially full to prevent reflux of fuel from the vehicle tank through the inlet conduit of the vehicle tank.
Abstract: A machine for printing a plurality of colored patterns on the surface of a contact lens has a plurality of parallel oriented print stations each of which has an image die and an ink cup for applying ink into the image in the die. A slide is moveable between a plurality of the print stations such that a contact lens on the slide can receive printing at each of the stations. The slide also carries a vertically moveable print pad for applying printing to a lens and an indexing cleaning tape for cleaning the print pad.
Abstract: The invention relates to a fire-extinguishing device and a valve block for a fire-extinguishing device. In order to create a fire-extinguishing device which has a short reaction time up to the quenching of sparks, there is provided, in a fire-extinguishing device which has an extinguishant pipe (14) which leads from an extinguishant reservoir to at least one quenching site and there terminates in an extinguishant outlet nozzle (16), an extinguishant container (20) in the region of the extinguishant outlet nozzle (16). From the container extinguishant flows into the extinguishant pipe upon a pressure drop in the extinguishant pipe (14). A valve block proposed according to the invention for a fire-extinguishing device facilitates the fitting of such an extinguishant container.
