Patent number: 5525667Abstract: A novel biaxially oriented polystrene sheet product and process for making the sheet. Oriented polystyrene sheet is prepared by melt extruding a polymer, such as styrenic resin having average molecular weight of at least 270,000, blended with a processing agent, such as mineral oil, to lower glass transition temperature of the resin by at least 10.degree. C. The cooled extruded sheet is biaxially oriented under reduced orientation load conditions and orientation temperature. In a preferred embodiment styrenic resin is blended with about 3-10 wt % paraffinic hydrocarbon oil, such as mineral white oil or the like, in the substantial absence of other additives to provide a clear, oriented polystyrene sheet product having high modulus and low haze.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1995Date of Patent: June 11, 1996Assignee: Tenneco Plastics, Inc.Inventors: Alan H. Patent number: 5494566Abstract: A process for solvent dewaxing petroleum feedstock to separate crystallized wax from lubricant oil by filtration of a wax/oil/solvent mixture. The feedstock is sequentially cooled and mixed with cold polar solvent to form a wax crystal phase and oil-solvent phase, and-the oil-solvent filtrate stream is contacted with solvent permeable selective membrane at low temperature to recover an internal circulating permeate solvent stream and an oil-rich retentate stream containing dewaxed oil product and residual solvent. Improved operation is achieved by splitting the internal circulating solvent stream into a multiple cold solvent recycle streams and injecting a plurality of the cold solvent recycle streams into the waxy petroleum feedstock during sequential cooling and mixing. By initially injecting a cold recycle solvent stream in to the waxy petroleum feedstock at a small temperature differential near the wax crystallization temperature, shock cooling and excess small wax crystal formation is avoided.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 1994Date of Patent: February 27, 1996Assignee: Mobil Oil CorporationInventors: Ronald M. Gould, Albert R. Nitsch

Patent number: 5465845Abstract: The invention involves a system for bag pack support, easy dispensing, loading and removal of grocery bags involving a pack of bags and a rack suitable for the dispensing of the bags. The pack includes a plurality of undershirt type bags having integrally extended double-loop handles in the bag mouth. Each bag mouth is distinguished by being free of any suspension tabs. Thus, in bag pack form there is no "header". Suspension orifices are located in the handles of the bags. The pack of bags is employed with a rack which includes a pair of spaced parallel cantilevered rods having free ends. The bag pack is threaded onto the support rods by means of the support orifices. The rack includes a restraining means adapted to engage at least some of the bags of the pack so as to at least inhibit any significant forward movement of the pack as individual bags are loaded and removed from the rack. Means are included with the bag pack to secure the plurality of bags in a registered condition.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1994Date of Patent: November 14, 1995Assignee: Mobil Oil CorporationInventors: Allen J. Patent number: 5431760Abstract: In a continuous bag-making process, the film and zipper track moves intermittently through a bag machine in a continuous stream, so there is no end to the zipper track on which the slider can be inserted. In the present invention, in the intermittent motion-part of the bag machine, the zipper is cut apart at the location that is to be the edge of the bag, the ends formed by the cutter moved laterally relative to each other exposing the ends and the slider is inserted over one of the exposed ends.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 1994Date of Patent: July 11, 1995Assignee: Mobil Oil CorporationInventor: Terry J.
