    Abstract: An integrated radio tower light controller and alarm reporting device is described that is made up of solid-state current sensing modules that monitor the AC current distributed to the various lights/beacons and report various alarm modes. In addition, a solid-state flasher module is used to flash the radio tower beacons at the FAA/FCC specified rate along with reporting various alarm modes. Two mechanical relays are also included for reporting failures with the flasher module and AC power failure. Connecting terminals and testing switches are included to connect to various power leads, alarm leads, and to test the various functions of the device.

    Abstract: A section of a housing on a portable computing device is removed or folded away, thereby exposing a free edge of an LCD screen as well as electrical (data and power) connectors and structural connectors. Connectors are placed symmetrically across the exposed edge whereby a male connector on one side mates with a female connector on the other device. Two such devices are physically pushed together, with locking catches securing the two devices together. Upon docking, the two devices recognize the new configuration and re-map the desktop area of the display into a single display for the combined device. In a preferred embodiment, either a top edge or a side edge is selectively exposed independently on the same device, to mate two devices in either a portrait or landscape orientation.

    Abstract: The concept of isolated ordered regions to maintain coordinates of nodes is used by associating each node with coordinates relative to a containing region. Modifications to nodes within a region only affect the nodes in that region, and not nodes in other regions. Traversals that retrieve information from the nodes can rebase the coordinates from their containing region and return with a total order. Access patterns and usage are used to recognize and prefetch pages. The probability of revisiting traversed nodes are identified and pages in a bufferpool are replaced based upon the identified probabilities (e.g., replacing pages with the least probability of a revisit).

    Abstract: The invention relates to optical communications using techniques for providing efficient high speed polarization bit interleaving. One common architecture for high-speed time-division-multiplexing employs two modulators having a same bit rate, wherein two separately modulated streams of data bits are combined into a high-speed single serial stream of data bits, instead of providing a single higher-cost higher-speed modulator. The present invention has found with the availability of fast data modulators, that polarization bit interleaving can be employed more efficiently for higher speed data transmission in optical network systems by providing an optical modulator including a single data modulator, rather than multiplexing different data streams from different modulators.

A plurality of electrical generator devices may be mounted in a configuration such that they are in close proximity to vehicular passageways (e.g., highway overpasses, tunnels, or train rails). The wind created by the traffic is used to rotate the vanes and their attached generators in order to produce electrical energy.

    Abstract: An LUN/LBA interface is utilized to obtain the benefits of a content addressed storage (CAS) interface. Reference data is manipulated in a manner similar to a CAS system, where an object ID (OID) table is used to maintain OIDs generated for hashed LBAs. A first tier logic block is used to provide a LUN/LBA storage interface to application programs and to facilitate the writing of reference data. A second tier logic block hashes the content of reference data to be written and stores the OID generated to the first OID table. A third tier logic block facilitates writing the reference data to an LUN and to verify the accuracy of reference data to be read from the LUN. Reference data may be written to a storage area in accordance with a write-once, write-many, or write-many with versioning policy.

    Abstract: The present invention provides for a system and method of performing efficient XML-RPC. Generally, the system comprises a client which generates XML-RPC requests in a compression format which encodes tags, attributes and attribute values as tokens rather than strings and transmits the request to a server. The server gets the requests from the client, invokes the corresponding method and sends a response encoded in the same format that the clients request was encoded in. In a further aspect of the present invention, the client receives a URL of a valid XML-RPC server. The client establishes a persistent connection with the server via a request utilizing the URL. The method to be called utilizing XM-RPC is passed to the client along with the associated parameters. The client generates and XML-RPC request which is transmitted in an encoding format which represents at least a portion of the tags (and attributes and attribute values if present) as tokens rather than strings.

Based upon the specimen and position of the probe on the specimen, electronic media is presented simulating an output of a real tool used to inspect an actual specimen. The hand manipulation of the probe coordinated with the display of the electronic media provides the visceral experience normally encountered by a user of the real tool. In one embodiment, the probe is a camera and the specimen an image identified by examination of an image feature database. In an alternative embodiment, the probe is a finger.

In Mirror Composition, the UI is generated from a tree of view objects, where each view object is an object editor that provides for the modification and viewing of an underlying domain object. The tree of the view objects closely mirrors the tree of the domain objects.

When a current flows in the heating direction, the diode (23) is turned on, whereby the current is shunted to the thermo-module (5) and bypass line (21) for flow, and accordingly, the overcurrent flowing into the thermo-module (5) can be effectively suppressed.
