Abstract: A print control device for a thermal printer for detecting a failure in a component of the thermal printer to prevent an incorrect printing of an item to be printed which provides for a thermal resistor associated with each component of the printer to render the printer inoperative when the component becomes defective, and a MOSFET for each thermal resistor associated with a feeder, a driver and a group detector which prevents the printer from printing when the thermal resistor changes the effective resistance in the circuit with the MOSFET and the group detector and driver.

Abstract: The invention provides a mass spectrometric method for analyzing a sample in a solution, including the steps of directing a flow of a solution containing sample compounds to be analyzed towards a supersonic nozzle having an input end and an output end; vaporizing the solution and sample prior to its expansion from the output end of said supersonic nozzle; allowing expansion of the vaporized sample and solution from said supersonic nozzle into a vacuum system, forming a supersonic molecular beam with vibrationally cold sample molecules; ionizing the vaporized sample compounds with electrons while contained as vibrationally cold molecules in said supersonic molecular beam; mass analyzing the ions formed from said sample compounds; detecting said ions formed from said sample compounds after mass analysis, and processing the data obtained from the resulting mass spectral information, for identifying and/or quantifying the chemical content of said sample.

Abstract: A novel marine microorganism (Pseudomonas CH07) capable of degrading different congeners namely coplanar, sterically hindered and other chlorobiphenyls present in a technical grade PCBs (Clophen A-50); the aerobic bacterial strain, identified as Pseudomonas CH07 isolated from coastal zone of Arabian sea near Goa, India subjected to intense anthropogenic activity is shown to degrade PCBs of chlorine content (4-7 chlorine atoms per biphenyl).

Abstract: The present invention is related to microbiology and forms part of a system for rapid microbiological diagnosis. The invention allows detection of turbidimetric changes due to microbial growth, using equipment comprised of two main devices: a static turbidimetric minireader and a microflow sensor which is fed by a peristaltic pump; this equipment is coupled to a microcomputer with a program package for acquisition, processing and formation of databases used in generating necessary reports.
