Abstract: A process for preparing an optical element comprising an optical fiber located in a tubular jacket in a curve shape with a radius of curvature sufficiently big to avoid a substantial increase of the loss at light transmission in which process by establishing elastic tensions varying over the cross-sectional area of the element, the element is given such a permanent preshape that when placed in the tubular jacket it has a marked tendency to assume by itself the desired curve shape. The fiber itself can be preshaped or it can be provided with an eccentric coating or a segmented multicomponent coating having different contraction tendencies. An optical element so produced and an optical transmission means comprising such an element is also described.

Abstract: Electrical drive apparatus for a vehicle comprising a detachable battery pack and a further unit comprising an electric motor, a differential with output shafts to respective vehicle wheels and a transmission from the motor to the differential including a universally jointed shaft, the axes of the motor differential output shafts and the shaft being substantially parallel and the motor being on the sprung and the differential being on the unsprung part of the vehicle.

Abstract: The disclosure relates in general to the connection art and in particular to the connection of two inclined tubes to a leg or other tubular piece in tables or similar articles. For improving the stability of such connections the ends of the two inclined square tubes extending above the prongs of the corner piece are obliquely cut such that their one side entirely conceals the corresponding side of the prongs and extends up to the seat and each forms an extension of the outer defining edges of the seat extending in the longitudinal direction of the leg or tubular piece in order, together therewith, to be held in abutment against the leg or tubular piece, the seat being designed to be urged laterally together with its extensions formed by the square tubes, against the leg or tubular piece substantially only along the defining edges and the extensions.

Abstract: Liquid fuel comprising hydrocarbon as its main component, which is in liquid state at normal temperature and pressure, is held in a container of an apparatus for vaporization of the liquid fuel to enable the fuel to be readily converted into a gaseous state for example for cooking purpose.
