  • Patent number: 6260554
Abstract: A self-extinguishing pipe is described for use with tobacco or other smoking material. The pipe is made in two parts, a body and an endpiece, and holds a filter internally. The endpiece includes a reservoir for the tobacco or other smoking material at one end which has an adjustable base for changing the depth of the reservoir. The two-part construction and adjustable base facilitate cleaning of the pipe, replacement of the filter, and removal of ash without needing additional tools. The depth of the reservoir is adjusted by rotating an inner component of the endpiece in relation to a surrounding cowl. Various bores through the body of the pipe and the components of the endpiece communicate with each other so as to form an air passage from the smoking material to the mouth end of the pipe, thereby allowing smoke to be drawn into the user's mouth.

  • Patent number: 5947345
Abstract: A dispenser having a tubular closure and a tubular container body. The closure has an open end and an axially opposite closed end. The closure has an annular side wall. The container body has a closed end and an opening longitudinally spaced from the closed end. The container body has an annular side wall. The closure is adjustably and telescopically coupled to the container so that the closure side wall remains adjacent to the container body side wall during an adjustment of the closure from a closed rotationally locked position to a closed rotationally unlocked position, to an alignment position, and to an open position. The dispenser utilizes rotational quadrants to control adjustment of the closure. The rotational quadrants are formed by the closure and container body. Each rotational quadrant includes a plurality of interferences, a first lateral passage, a first vertical passage, a helical guide, and a longitudinal guide.

  • Patent number: 5944366
Abstract: An adaptable latch having a bolt case. A bolt case extension is connected to the rear of the bolt case. The bolt case extension can be locked in position with the bolt case to place the latch in a short-length position or a long-length position. A bolt head is disposed in the bolt case. A bolt tail is connected to the rear of the bolt case. The bolt tail can be locked in position with the bolt head to place the latch in the short-length position or the long-length position. A spring-loaded lug allows for simultaneous unlocking of the bolt tail from the bolt head and the case extension from the bolt case. The bolt tail and case extension, when unlocked from a previous locked position, can be placed in another locked position to lock the latch in either the desired long-length position or the short-length position. The bolt tail is locked into position with the bolt head by way of a bolt tail appendage extending into a bolt head hollow.

  • Patent number: 5942058
Abstract: The invention provides an adhesive system comprising a blend of resin and a co-adhesive conjugated triglyceride drying oil acting as a internal release agent which is mixed with fibers for bonding composite panels such as oriented strand board, particle board, plywood, MDF, hardboard, and similar panels. The resin is a fast acting bonding material which forms a mat of fibers into a self sustaining panel within a time limit during which a press may be economically utilized. The triglyceride acts slower so that, after the panel is formed, there is enough time to penetrate the fibers to a depth that results in a superior bonding. The conjugated drying oil is a release agent that provides an internal release agent that prevents the composite panel from sticking to the press that bonds it.

  • Patent number: 5935744
Abstract: In a method of drawing patterns by an electron beam exposure apparatus, a target pattern is divided into subpatterns and one of the subpatterns is sequentially selected. The dimensions of the selected subpattern are compared with dimensions of a reference electron beam which are determined in accordance with design dimensions. When at least one of the dimensions of the selected subpattern is not larger than the corresponding one of the dimensions of the reference electron beam, dimensions of the use electron beam for the selected subpattern are estimated. Also, the use exposure quantity for the selected subpattern is determined based on the estimated dimensions of the use electron beam for the selected subpattern. Then, the use electron beam is irradiated to the subpattern with the use exposure quantity.

  • Patent number: 5918445
Abstract: An automatic packaging machine includes a first conveyor which carries a batch of small items along a path extending in a first direction. A second conveyor carries boxes in a second direction which is perpendicular to the first direction. A depositing structure in the form of a twisted funnel rotates the products from the first direction to the second direction before inserting them into a box. An oscillating plate carrying the funnel moves back and forth to fill the box while traveling in a first half of back and forth motion. Then, in the second half of that motion, returns to fill the next box. The oscillating plate may carry a plurality of funnels on each of its opposite sides. A memory of the type of small item carried by each funnel enables a single box to be loaded with different products.
