  • Patent number: 6363615
Abstract: An automatically opening knife including an elongated handle with opposing separate sides forming a spacing for a blade having a working end and a tang at the opposite end. The blade may be extended from or folded into the handle. A coil spring connected between the blade and the handle biases the blade to an open position. A rotatable locking element prevents opening or closing the blade by rotational positioning with the use of a cutout in the locking element that permits the tang to pass through during pivotal movement of the blade. The locking element is further rotatably actuatable to both an unlocked position to coincide the cutout and the tang and a locked position where the locking element abuts the tang to lock the blade from movement. The locking element has separate locking element abutments cooperating with separate tang abutments to selectively prevent movement of the blade.

  • Patent number: 6345936
Abstract: An ejector for providing motive gas for conveying particulate solids from a solids supply vessel through a conveying pipeline includes a gas introduction stage and a solids introduction stage. The gas introduction stage includes a fluids mixing chamber having a principal inlet port for connecting to a source of high-pressure compressed gas, an outlet port connected to the solids introduction stage, and a secondary inlet port that is open to the atmosphere or other low-pressure gas source. The solids introduction stage includes a fluids/solids mixing chamber having an, inlet port connected to the gas introduction stage, an outlet port for connecting to a pipeline, and a material receiving port for connecting to a vessel outlet. As the compressed gas enters the gas introduction stage, the high velocity gas induces atmospheric air or other low-pressure gas from the secondary inlet port, thus increasing the mass flow into the solids introduction stage.

  • Patent number: 6325776
Abstract: The apparatus for diverting blood from the retro hepatic inferior vena cava (IVC) and internally shunting renal and infra renal IVC blood into the right atrium during surgery on the liver, its vessels, or the retro hepatic IVC is described. It is symmetrical on its mid horizontal axis permitting similar utility whether venous access was above or below the liver. It is a hollow plastic tube with two sidewall openings, one at each end with four intervening completely encircling balloons. It is continuous with a proximal component which serves to remotely manipulate, infuse fluids and inflate the balloons in the distal component. • Patent number: 6321581
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing a region of greater wall thickness in a longitudinal hollow section (1) which, to this end, is subjected to a radial and axial pressure and plastically deformed thereby. The hollow section (1) is secured in a matrix (2) corresponding to the section dimensions which has an enlarged cross section corresponding to the intended final dimensions of the hollow section (1) in the deformation region. The essential embodiment consists in that the deformation to attain an increased wall thickness (14) takes place in a region between the ends of the section.
