Abstract: A novel tablecloth which has pockets on its sides that allow for storage of utensils, napkins, plates, and the like, as well as writing implements, files, letters, and other useful items. The opening into the pockets could be converted from an open to a closed configuration and vise versa. Preferred embodiments of the invention allow for temporary conversion of the pockets into flaps or sleeves thus preventing accumulation of dirt and garbage inside of the pockets and allowing for easy cleaning of the tablecloth.
Abstract: The present invention is a universal self-adjusting high pressure liquid connector for use with high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) columns requiring liquid-tight and leak free seals between fittings and unions. The present apparatus provides a liquid-tight seal between the end of a HPLC end fitting and a end cap thereby eliminating any potential dead volume in the area of the connection. The apparatus comprises a body, a fixed ferrule, a replaceable ferrule, a stem disposed in the body and a biasing spring slidingly mounted on a capillary tube of that extends through the connector. The spring biases the capillary tube of the connector into the HPLC end fitting, self-adjusting and maintaining a pressure sufficient to ensure a liquid-tight seal notwithstanding the depth of the HPLC tube stop or ferrule stop of the mating HPLC column.
Abstract: The present invention is an improved computer mouse for inputting cursor commands into a computer of the type having a flat base with a tracking means for use on a flat work surface and switches operable with the fingers of the user. The improved computer mouse comprises a housing having a flat base, a vertical rear wall at a right angle to said flat base, a top and front surface disposed between the front edge of the base and the upper edge of the rear wall. The base having a front to rear dimension less than the height of the rear wall, so that the mouse is readily tiltable rearwardly. Also provided is a means for disabling the mouse when so tilted.
Abstract: The present invention relates to oil toilets where oil is used as a sealant to isolate unpleasant smell produced by waste materials. Waste materials enter oil in the storage container and sink since both solid waste and urine have specific gravity that is higher than that of oil. Excess oil is collected in the overflow container. It has a component for collection of fumes that are formed by the waste materials collected in the toilet. A cleaning means is utilized to remove waste materials from the toilet while at the same time it could be modified to reuse a substantial amount of the oil present in the toilet.
Abstract: A combined computer keyboard and radio apparatus for use with a computer having a CPU contained in a housing comprising a keyboard housing, the keyboard housing is separate from the computer CPU housing and a plurality of alphanumeric keys are mounted in said keyboard housing, a selectively tunable radio unit located in the keyboard housing having circuitry isolated and independent of the keyboard circuitry and at least one speaker mounted within said keyboard housing for audibly reproducing the radio frequency waves received by said radio receiver whereby the radio unit may be played for the listening pleasure of the user without impacting, using or otherwise impacting the resources of the computer to which the combined computer keyboard and radio apparatus is interfaced.
Abstract: A cursor control device is provided which allows the user to have almost full use of the fingers of the hand for a wide range of tasks while the thumb is used to operate the cursor control device. The control body housing houses the cursor control means and could be secured anywhere on a hand by utilization of securing means. The cursor control device does not require any planar surfaces such as a table and can be operated in any orientation. In a preferred embodiment, the securing means is accomplished by utilization of securing body housing and the device has a capability to switch between two alternative configurations, the closed and open configurations. In the closed configuration the control body housing is placed on the securing body housing and could be held in a grip while thumb is free to operate the cursor control means.
Abstract: A system for electrically heating a flow of liquid singularly passing over a heating element contained within a housing. Liquid is inserted into the housing and passes over a heating element, with the straight embedded resistance wire, which causes the liquid to be heated faster and with less energy than would be employed by a coiled heating element. The heating element is composed of resistance wire connected to a conductor lead by a transition splice, all surrounded by compacted magnesium oxide encased within a stainless steel sheath.
Abstract: A sterilizable, surgical instrument tray that can deliver, in an instant nearly, 100 ringed surgical instruments held and displayed in a perpendicular fashion in a space and manner similar to that used by surgical scrub nurses on their operating room back tables, as well as hold and display with easy access, a number of forceps, knife handles and retractors. A surgical instrument tray, capable of retaining all the general/major/trauma instruments and arranging these instruments in such a way that said tray may be placed in the operating room in sterile manner, being ready for operational usage. Due to the design and construction of the tray, with recessed sections of applicable shape and size to accommodate certain instruments, upon extraction of the instruments from the tray, the instruments are in ready position to be relayed to the person performing the operation, with no further manipulation of the instruments.
Abstract: A method of manufacturing furniture or sculpture by cutting plies from a sheet material, laminating the plies into a beam element, and removing excess portions of the plies. Bars of similar diameters and lengths are cut. The beam elements are interconnected with other beam elements. The bars are inserted into some of the slots, grooves, cut-outs and tabulated apertures in beam elements. By orienting some of the beam elements or some of the bars to be in collinear alignment to a load acting upon the furniture, and by orienting some of the beam elements such that some of the individual plies are disposed with an edge facing forward, a structural object can be created.
Abstract: A liquid chromatography seal capable of withstanding pressures in excess of 8000 to 10,000 psi utilizing an annular ring disposed upon either the seal or the seal seating surface. The annular ring is triangular in cross section. The triangular cross section forms three seals. The first seal is the innermost face of the triangular cross section, the third is the outermost face, and the second is the angle between the first and third. The structure of the seal enables the column to be leak-free even with a minimum of torque applied to the fasteners. Another important aspect of the seal is that it eliminates the need for a disperser frit since the seal itself acts as to disperse liquid to the frit.
Abstract: A personal spray dispensing system designed for personalized use. The system may be actuated by a pump or by an aerosol propellant system. The dispensing system may be employed to disseminate a deodorizing, antibacterial or air freshening agent. Each dispensing system is specifically designed to be small enough to carry on the person of the user or in a brief case or pocketbook.
Abstract: A rotatable and pivotal exercise system for performing weight resistant training exercises comprising a support platform having a base and an integrated support structure for adding structural strength, integrity and stability to said support platform, a pair of pivotally attached resistance arms and a pivotal support device pivotally engaged with a pivot support base attached to said support platform for pivotally supporting an exerciser. The pivotal support device and system may be adapted to accommodate an exerciser performing weight resistant training in either sitting, standing or bench supported positions.
Abstract: A door barricade that removably mounts on the steps of a recreational vehicle and the like that prevents the opening of the door beyond a predetermined point. The door barricade of the present invention comprises a step engaging member and a door stop member. The step engaging member securely grips the top step leading to the entry door of a RV and the like and the door stop member extends upward from the step engaging member in close proximity to the door of the RV and the like in the installed and functional configuration, thereby preventing the outward swinging door of a RV and the like from opening. The door barricade is further foldable for storage and transporting purposes. Additionally, the door barricade is adjustable to accommodate RVs and the like having a variety of step-to-door relationships.
