Abstract: A hybrid Marchand/back-wave balun includes a first pair of coupled sections having a first primary section and first secondary section; a second pair of coupled sections having a second primary section and second secondary section; a first reactance interconnecting the first and second primary sections and a second reactance interconnecting the first and second secondary sections; one of the reactances being open at high frequency and shorted at low frequency, the other reactance being shorted at high frequency and open at low frequency for selectively providing low frequency Marchand/high frequency back-wave function and high frequency Marchand/low frequency back-wave function; and a double balanced mixer using same.
Abstract: A method of destroying mines in a minefield buried under the surface includes deploying a munition including a plurality of kinetic energy rods each having a stabilizer into a position above the minefield and deploying the rods above the minefield to fall towards the minefield each aligned along a velocity vector to penetrate the surface and destroy the mines.
Abstract: A dynamical instrument for machining comprising a sensor responsive to a non-rotating part of a machine proximate the tool of the machine for outputting a vibration signal, and a processor responsive to the sensor output configured to calculate a plurality of signature quantities which characterize the dynamics of the vibration signal and correlate the signature quantities to detect parameters associated with the operation of the machine.
